Janet Smith Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful, loving, and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on February 27,2025. She left us with family at her side to walk with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Mission City, British Columbia, Canada to Edith (Shuttleworth) and Nicholas Boser. Janet lived in Mission City until she moved to Vancouver, BC at 16 to work for the telephone company and bank. She moved to the United States in 1961 when she met and fell in love with the love of her life, William Edward Smith.

Predeceased by her devoted husband Bill, parents Edie and Nick, sister Jean (Len), and brother Melvin. Janet leaves behind her four devoted children, son James Smith (Ashley), daughter Jillian Holder (Robert), son Silas Smith (Vonnie) and daughter Christine Dunn. Fourteen adoring grandchildren, Melissa (Josh), Jana (Benny), Andrew (Teyia), Ellie (Kyle), Tristian (Alaina), Cooper, Chelsey (Matty), Jessie (Emmet), Alyssa (Steven), Zach (Alyssa), Austin (Mckenzie), Sean, Jordan, and Callahan. Twenty-four great grandchildren and her first great, great grandchild to join her legacy in August 2025.

She leaves us wrapped in the love and warmth of the quilts she made for each of us, a love for cooking, gardening, tea, and lemon drops. She loved blowing a dandelion and making a wish, watching hummingbirds, and picking black berries. She adored long walks with loved ones and pointing out God's little miracles; from a caterpillar to moss growing on a tree. Family gatherings were always special to her. She enjoyed taking drives to look at the fall colors, the crunch of leaves while walking, and sitting outside by the fire with family and friends. Her unwavering faith in Our Lord was a true testament to her life on earth. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00am at Calvary Chaple Lake Stevens, 9428 Fourth St SE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. A very special thank you to the Care Team of Bristol Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society

I was so taken by the warmth and generosity given by Janet to anyone who met her. She made all feel loved and comforted just by her smile and attention...she was genuine. We will miss you my friend and think of you often.
Janet gave me the nickname "Cougar Jan" as I am a WSU graduate. Her love of the Huskies and mine for the Cougars always sparked a little fun in our meetings...we both enjoyed that.

We had the honor of meeting sweet Janet as she was the mother of our beloved neighbors. She moved in with her daughter and son-in-law so they could help her. That gave us the opportunity to see her occasionally, chat with her from time to time, and share cookies with her once in awhile. We didn´t know her for very long, but we knew her long enough to enjoy her beautiful smile, and to see where here daughter got her generous and kind spirit. We know how much she was loved by her family. Thank you for touching our lives, Janet. You will be missed!

I first met Janet in March of 2016 on my first day moving into my apt. I was carrying in an arm full of clothing, and Janet met me at the elevator and offered me the use of her cart.
Janet was the most loving, giving friend from that moment on.
We had so many moments that were fun, adventuresome, sad, but most of all we had laughs. Oh and I can´t forget all those yummy meals she cooked and shared. It is so rare to find friendship like we had together, and to find it in our senior years was such a blessing.
You are so missed my friend, and I will forever be grateful for the time we had together.
Love you always my friend.
And to her loving family that I came to know and love. My heartfelt sympathy and love to all of you.
