Ken Callahan Obituary

Ken April 13, 1937 - Callahan Ken Callahan passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on April 13, 1937 to Robert and Dorothy Callahan, and lived for several years in Butte, Montana before moving to the Seattle area in 1950. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955 and attended the University of Washington before enlisting in the Washington National Guard where he was discharged in 1965. He was married for 66 years to his wife Judy, whom he met when they were Roosevelt classmates.
Ken and family moved to what is now the Richmond Beach area of the City of Shoreline in 1966. He was involved in Shoreline youth sports, spending many years coaching both youth basketball and football, and was a co-founder of the Richmond Youth Basketball Association (RYBA), which later merged with another sports group to become the Sno-King Youth Club. He enjoyed all the Seattle sports teams, but his number one love was the Seattle Mariners. He and Judy were Mariner season ticket holders for 27 years.
Ken was a Master Mason in the Shoreline Masonic Lodge since 1984 and served as their Worshipful Master in 1992. He filled many different roles for the Grand Lodge of Washington and received the Mason of the Year Award in 2007.
Ken served with the Shoreline Fire Department as an elected Fire Commissioner for 15 years until his passing.
Ken is survived by his wife, Judy, sons Scott (Jill) and Grant, sister, Sandra Fadden (Del), granddaughters Kayla Ames (Tim), Sammi Velazquez (Miguel), and Sarah Lillejord, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at 2 PM on July 13, 2025 at the Innis Arden Clubhouse in Shoreline, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations in Ken's memory to: Evergreen Health Hospice Care Center, The Shoreline Fire Department, or your favorite charity.
