Barbara Graham Obituary

Barbara Graham
August 10, 1931 - October 9, 2021
Charlotte, North Carolina - On Saturday, October 9, 2021 Barbara Ann Rauber Graham was "promoted to Heaven" from the Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC after complications from a stroke.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Harvest Baptist Church, with Rev. Marshall Fant, III officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am-11:30 am. Burial will be in the Graham Family Cemetery in Scranton, SC at 12 noon on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Barbara was born on August 10, 1931 in Chester, SC, to Ernest and Louise Copeland Rauber. Barbara and her brother Ernest, "Boots", enjoyed a loving home with their parents and grandmother. Days were filled playing in the woods, fishing and spending time with cousins. Barbara began piano lessons at an early age and continued on through her college years. She became quite the accomplished pianist and enjoyed using her talent for the Lord as a church pianist for several years.
After graduating from Chester High School, she went on to Columbia College in Columbia, SC, where she majored in Religious Studies and minored in Music. On a blind date, her freshman year, she met the "love of her life", Harrell, and the love story began. When Harrell returned from serving in Korea, they were married in October of 1953.
Their love story was truly one of a kind and the lord blessed them with 65 years of marriage until Harrell was called home to heaven in 2019.
Barbara was quite the homemaker…serving, cooking, hosting family gatherings and often welcoming missionaries into their home. She was the secretary for 37 years at Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill, SC. She didn't see this as just a job, but rather a ministry and a way to share Christ with others.
Barbara enjoyed journaling, writing numerous poems, playing board games with friends and family and encouraging others with notes and phone calls. Loving her Lord and sharing that love with others was her heart's desire.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Harrell; her brother, Ernest; and her oldest daughter, Bonny Grasty. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Abernethy (Tommy) and Angela White (Dana), all of Charlotte, NC; her son, Hal (Tammy) of Roebuck, SC; ten grandchildren, Barbara Elaine and April Grasty, Chad Abernethy, Kyle Abernethy (Tori), Kurt Abernethy (Bryce), Caitlin Gosselin (Quentin), Colin, Ethan and Logan White and Nathan Graham; four great-grandchildren, Avery Abernethy, daughter of Chad, Olivia and Salem Abernethy, daughters of Kyle and Tori, and Banks Abernethy, daughter of Kurt and Bryce.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Graham's name to Harvest Baptist Church, 153 Miller Pond Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
