Lawrence Poole Obituary

Lawrence Poole
May 31, 1923 - September 24, 2021
Rock Hill, South Carolina - Lawrence Poole, 98, passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, September 24, 2021 at McLeod Health Care Center in Cheraw, SC.
Lawrence was born on May 31, 1923 to Nora and Lexie Poole. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Margaret Poole; their two sons, Michael and Larry; siblings, Christine and Clyde Poole and Inez Garrison; and daughter in law, Dana Poole.
He was a loving father and is survived by his son, Randy Poole. He was a loving grandfather "PawPaw" of Kelly and Mike Raymond, Kimberly and Nathan Ball, and Randy and Amber Poole. He was a loving great-grandfather "PawPaw" of Gabrielle, Madison, Tabitha, Caleb, Blake, Hunter and Jade; and great-great-grandfather to Andrea. He was "Uncle Larry" to many nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed.
Lawrence was a World War II veteran in the army. He was a tank operator with the artillery division. He was decorated with the Bronze Star. In his pastime, he played in a baseball league where he won many awards and was loved by all. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing where you could often find him dropping a line in any nearby lake. Lawrence was an electrician by trade. He was employed for 30 years at JP Stevens, "The Mill", where he held many positions throughout his tenure there. Lawrence was an active member of the Mount Gallant Church of God. He served on the board, and was the church treasurer for many years. He loved God with all of his heart and you would know it by the life he lived.
The family would like to offer their sincerest appreciation to Lawrence's niece, Carolyn Croxton, for loving and taking care of him throughout his end stages of life.
A graveside service is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road with Reverend Donald Deal and Reverend Joey Nelms officiating. We will cherish all of the memories and look forward to the day we will see him again.

We went to church with Brother Poole. He was truly a kind and gentle man of God. His love for God showed in the way he lived, spoke to individuals, and loved his wife during those years. He left a foundation for generations to live and to follow his example to heaven. We are proud and thankful to have known him. He made a difference. God bless the family with peace that passes all understanding as the Holy Spirit is your Comforter during your time of grief.
