Toni Batten

Mrs. Toni Thomas Batten, 74, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017.

Born June 23, 1942 in Joanna, SC, Toni was the daughter of Jesse F. Thomas and Helen Whitlock Thomas. Toni grew up in Charlotte, NC, and attended North Mecklenburg High School, King's College and Mercy Hospital Nurse Training Program. She retired from Winthrop University and then enjoyed many years spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dot and Millie, and her infant grandson Ephraim.

She was a member of Security Baptist Church in Rock Hill where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She was a very creative person who enjoyed crafting, quilting and cake decorating. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her flowers. She also loved frequent road trips throughout the years to visit her grandchildren. She loved to care for them and especially playing and doing crafts with them.

Toni is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry; two sons, Rich and his wife Charlotte of Rock Hill and Tim and his wife Cindy of Jonesborough, TN; her daughter Jill Haddad and her husband Robert of Columbia, SC; her grandchildren, Nicolas, Olivia, Atlas, Oliver, Joanne, Sagan, Elise, Hunter and Erica. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Edna Batten of Troy, NC.

Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is serving the family.
