Michael Nugent Obituary

Nugent, Michael
April 15, 1989 - January 2, 2018
Michael Andrew Nugent, age 28, passed away January 2. Before that, he changed the world around him.
He was born on April 15, 1989 in Hilton Head Island, SC. Along the way, he lived in Sarasota, FL, Atlanta, GA and most recently, in Nashville, TN.
Where he was, he shone. When Michael entered a room, his energy and charisma brightened each corner. He understood the importance of a good friend and did his best to be a great one, offering his light to lift those he loved.
As a student, as an athlete, and as a friend, he gave everything. He loved his family: his son, Callen; his parents, Helen and Kevin Nugent; his brother, Alex; his grandmother, Mary Louise Nugent and a large extended family.
He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School, Sarasota and was a student at Lipscomb University.
Even as he struggled with his own addiction, he wanted the best for the world. In fact, his most recent job was at The Ranch, an inpatient facility where clients heal from the devastating effects of addiction.
If you knew Michael and/or his family, please join us Sunday, Jan 21st for "A Celebration of Life for Mike Nugent." 1-2 p.m. at Phillippi Estate Park (at the Gazebo), 5500 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34231. Bring your favorite photo of Michael and share your favorite memory of him. Wear Buffalo Bills gear/colors, as Michael was their biggest fan. Let's send him out with our best.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.shop.stjude.org.

Dearest Helen & Family,
We are so very heartsick hearing about the loss of Michael. He was the same age as our Gregory, & we can't imagine what you are going threw. The last time we saw your precious mother, she smiled so sweetly talking about her children & grandchildren. I know it's been a long time since we've seen each other, but your whole family has always held a special place in our hearts. We will continue to pray for strength & comfort from the Lord & the Blessed Mother. God bless,

Dear Nugent Family,I have tried for weeks to find the right words to say, but I just can't seem to except how sorry I am to hear about Michael. I also didn't find out about the get together until after last Sunday, so sorry I missed it but my story would be when Garrett and Michael tried to leave summer camp @ the Y , they were going to go to our house and hang out at the fort in our backyard! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Helen and Kevin,
My thoughts go out to you during this very painful time. I remember Michael as the talented teenage basketball player and smart as a whip kid who always had a smile on his face. He was a friend to my son Sloan and was always a pleasure to be around. I have no doubt that he became a wonderful man and that the loss of him must feel unbearable. I hope that in time you will find peace and that Michael has found his.

Dear Nugent family:
Words seem so inadequate to express the sorrow I feel for the loss of your son, Mike. I knew Mike in Nashville and loved his spirit. His commitment to and love for his son and fiancé were unwavering and he found meaning and purpose in his life that ended up touching many other lives in a loving way. He was a good man and will be missed deeply.

Our sincere condolences for the loss of your son Michael. As parents who lost a son to addiction almost one year ago, we know the pain you are experiencing, the grief can be so hard and isolating.
