Grady N. Campbell

CATAWBA - Grady Nelson Campbell, 74, of Catawba, passed away July 29, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels. He was born on July 27, 1936, in Iredell County to the late Barnette and Hallie Lundy Campbell. Grady was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Campbell; and sisters, Virginia Campbell, Stella Fox, Martha Jane Allgood, Hazel Kelly and Lizzie Hedrick. Survivors include, his wife of 53 years, Virgie Underwood Campbell; son, Lynn Campbell and wife, Anita, of Claremont; daughter, Karen Icard and husband, Sean, of Hickory; grandchildren, Garrett Icard, Chandler Icard, Haleigh Icard and Zoe Icard, all of Hickory; sister, Lillian Dixon Mabe of Statesville; brother, Lloyd Matthew Campbell of Harmony; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Scooter, Susie and Rocky. A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Catawba Funerals & Cremations, with the Rev. Larry Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
