James Rice Obituary
James was born on August 1, 1940 in Catawba County to Roy Wilson Rice and Velvia Brittain Rice. Jim was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Newton and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He retired from Technibilt after 50 years of service and enjoyed playing golf and watching football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd, Dale, Berry, Henry, and Milas; daughters, Patricia Sigmon and Diane Kusnerak; grandson, Michael Maiorino; and granddaughter, Leah Rice.
Those left to cherish his memory are; wife of 40 years: Linda Kennedy Rice of the home; sons: Stephen James Rice of Newton, Harold Stafford and wife Jennifer of Newton; sister: Muriel Alcantara of Barstow, CA; grandchildren: Jamie, Gage, Trey, Selina, Jordan, Katelynn, Razzberri B. Berry, Icy, Stephen James, Daniel, Casey, Tessa, and Sasha; great-grandchildren: Sophie, Emma, Jarod, Dean, Aria, Ava, Grayson, Anya, Nekole, Lukas, and Raven; special family friend: Sebrina.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Karen and the entire nursing staff and faculty at Carolina Caring. Their exceptional care and compassion for James was deeply appreciated by the family.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Larry Nance and Rev. Tim Crouse will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1560 Nathanial St., Newton, NC 28658.

My favorite uncle he was so good to me over the years when no other rices understood uncle Jim did he always loved me wanted better for me I love you hope your at peace and that you have a special place in heaven that you deserve hope to see you there your the best
