Randy Harrill

September 29, 1955 - September 10, 2022

Randy Harrill, 66, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late James Herman and Butell Gamble Harrill.

Randy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Harrill of Murrells Inlet; sons, Alex Harrill and wife, Jill of Hickory, Jordan Harrill and his wife, Mary of Eagle, Colo.; grandson, Wyatt Harrill; granddaughter, Lainey Harrill; brother, Larry Harrill and his wife, Libby of Forest City; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Randy graduated from Appalachian State University in 1977 and began a banking career at First Citizens Bank in Newton. He also spent years working as a real estate appraiser at Harrill/Brookshire Appraisal Company in Hickory before returning to banking at Peoples Bank and Carolina First Bank in Myrtle Beach, S.C.. He was a longtime member of the Hickory and Catawba County Homebuilders Association, receiving the Award of Excellence in 2005.

Randy was devoted to the youth of Mountain View, serving as a coach and mentor for years. He had a quiet reach with the young men he coached in football, basketball and baseball at Mtn. View Recreation Center. He volunteered in numerous capacities, serving as president in 1997.

He was a member of Belin United Methodist Church where he served on the Endowment Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Randy will be remembered as an honorable man, adored and respected by his family, friends and anyone who crossed his path. He was the definition of a real southern gentleman.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at Belin United Methodist Church, 4182 US-17 BUS in Murrells Inlet. Inurnment will follow in the Belin United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Randy's name to Belin U.M.C. or to Mountain View Recreation Center, P.O. Box 3038, Hickory, NC 28603.

Dear Donna and family, my deepest sympathies for the loss of such a wonderful man. I had the pleasure to work with Randy at both Citizens and Peoples Bank for a number of years. Randy was one of the most kind and genuine people I´ve ever known. He never met a stranger and was always a positive influence to those around him. He glowed when talking about his wonderful boys and wife. I am forever grateful for his friendship and the opportunity to have met Donna at bank functions many years ago. May God bless you all. Randy was a friend of mine that I met on the Marshwalk of Murrells Inlet. We connected instantly. He was just a lot of fun to talk to. Whether the subject was sports or business or what made a good bologna biscuit the result was the same. A good conversation. Thanks Randy for being a part of my life.
