Richard Frazier Obituary

Claremont - Richard Henry Frazier, 69, of Claremont, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Wake Forest University Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born April 18, 1940, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Frazier and Floy Isaac Frazier. Henry was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School, a former member of the Catawba County Planning Board and an entrepreneur in real estate and commercial development. He was a lifelong member of the "Claremont Café Gang" and a member and former deacon of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He loved hard work, a challenge and a good joke. He was a very giving and loving father and a wonderful grandfather and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Wallace and Frances Mackey. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glenda Stewart Frazier; daughters, Sherri Frazier and her husband, Jeff Glace, and Lisa F. Martin and her husband, Andy Martin; a son, Michael D. Frazier and his wife, Debbie; 10 grandchildren, Ashley R. Canipe and her husband, Dexter W. Canipe Jr., Aleshia M. Rader, Allison R. Rader, Andrew Pennell, Abbie E. Rader, Matthew Pennell, Mikayla Frazier, Hunter Frazier, Adam Frazier and Tasha Carlisle; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Henson, Dexter W. Canipe III "Trey", Emily Rader, Easton English and Jackson Henry Canipe; a sister, Beulah Jarrett and her husband, Sam; and brother, Robert Lee Frazier and his wife, Betty. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Greg Alms officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Memorial Cemetery in Catawba. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 187, Catawba, N.C. 28609 or American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231. Condolences may be sent to the Frazier family at www.drumfuneralhome.com. The Frazier family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Conover.
