Eddie Woolley Obituary

Eddie Glynn Woolley passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024 at his home in Marble Falls, Texas.

Eddie was born in the rural East Texas community of Shady Grove outside of Crockett on August 21, 1938 to Allen and Vera Mae Woolley. A gifted athlete and star football player, he became known as "The Rocket From Crockett".

After attending Blinn Junior College, he completed his degree in Physical Education at the University of Texas- Austin in 1961. He soon established a successful insurance and real estate business, which thrived until his retirement in 2016.

Eddie built his first home in West Lake Hills in 1964, and was elected mayor in 1968 at the age of 29. As Mayor, he was instrumental in leading a successful effort to keep West Lake Hills from being annexed by Austin, preserving the existence of the Eanes School District, and establishing Westlake High School in 1969.

Eddie married Judy Thielemann in 1960 and began raising their three kids- April, Adam, and Matt. In 1973, Eddie married Kelly Mayes and raised their son, John together. Eddie and Kelly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023.

Eddie and Kelly purchased a home in the mountains of northern New Mexico in 1976, and it quickly became their favorite place to be. They also moved their home and business to Burnet and then Marble Falls beginning in 1981, where they have remained until the present.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Vera Mae Woolley, brothers Armond and Don Woolley, sisters Joy Hodges and Sandra Holcomb, daughter April Woolley, and daughter-in-law Nancy Woolley.

Eddie is survived by his wife Kelly Woolley and their son John- both of Marble Falls, son Adam Woolley of Austin, son Matt Woolley and wife Laura of Austin, grandson Cameron and husband Patrick, granddaughters Renee, Emma, Annalise, and Samantha, and ex-wife Judy Woolley of Austin. A special thanks goes to Kathryn (Koock) Hillhouse for her love and support.

A private celebration will be held near the family home in northern New Mexico in the coming months.
