Marian Day Obituary

Marian Anne Day of Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on February 5, 2021, at the age of 83. Marian was born on October 26, 1937 in Hillsdale, MI, to the late Clyde Warren Graves and Donna G.A. Lynch, both of Jonesville, MI. Marian graduated from Jonesville High School in 1955, then from Michigan State University in 1959, where she earned her degree in Chemistry.

Marian was known for her intelligence, generosity, and her great sense of humor. She was an accomplished artist who exhibited and sold thousands of works in many different mediums, a voracious reader, an avid tennis player (Varsity at MSU), golfer and card player. She spent her later years living next to the ocean where she loved to observe the miracles of nature and take long walks on the beach while collecting shells and beach glass.

Marian was preceded in passing by her first husband of 13 years, George Day, and her second husband of 18 years, Howard Faust. Marian is survived by her brother Donald Graves of Hillsdale, MI, and Palm Beach, FL; her sons Scott Day of Mount Airy, NC and Lance Day of Walkersville, MD. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, Aaron, Lauren-Ashlee, Kaitlin, Keegan, Aashton, Kaaden, Liam, Aadisyn, Blake and Aadler; six great-grandchildren, Kylin, Aaspyn, Easton, Saylor, Brigslee and Aasen; nephews Jim and Jeff Graves and their children, and niece Lesley Boynton and her children. The family wishes to acknowledge Marian's many dear friends who meant so much to her throughout her life, most recently those at Palm Worth condominiums where she lived since 2000 and served as Secretary on the Board of Directors.

Marian's life and legacy will be celebrated in a private ceremony atop Mount Katahdin, ME, where she enjoyed hiking and exploring nature as a college student and while teaching chemistry in NH and ME.

Donations honoring Marian may be made to the Americans for the Arts Action Fund (www.artsactionfund.org).

Aunt Marian was so fun to be around; the combination of her intelligence, sense of humor and quick wit ensured interesting conversations, you never wanted to miss a word. I’m not sure we ever spent
time together without sharing our passion for her beloved SPARTANS. She was very sweet to my three children and always friendly & engaging with whom ever might show up with me at Palm Worth or during her visits to Long Lake; Megan experienced her graciousness during the last few holidays and other visits.

Aunt Marian loved to laugh and I always did my best to hear that laugh, I will surely miss her dearly.

Love Ya!
