Wilma Saia Obituary
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne C. Saia; grandsons, John Duet, Jack Duet III, and Dino Duet; great-granddaughter, Amber Duet; cousin, Mary Griffin; nephew, Gene Griffin; and niece, LaVada Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Culver Griffin and Callie Griffin; husband, John Louis Saia; daughter, Schere Saia Marullo; brothers, Maness, Coke, Elmo, L.B., Culver Claude, and Tenille Griffin; and sisters, Margie, Birdie Armead, and Mary Madelyn Griffin.
Wilma took great joy in gardening, hunting, painting, and was well traveled, having visited Italy, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Spain, Guatemala, the Virgin Islands, and Copenhagen in her lifetime. She was gifted with the talent of playing the piano by ear, and was an accomplished seamstress. She undertook extensive sewing projects including porcelain doll design, needlepoint, tatting, and embroidery. In her time in Houma, she was instrumental in starting the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild, was president of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild, queen of the Hyasinthians Carnival Club, member of the International Doll Making Association, president of the Houma Lou Doll Club, and member of the Seeley Doll Making Organization.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Was just thinking about my very dear friend Wednesday. I came across a crocheted vest while cleaning out my closet. Helen and I crocheted one exactly alike. I am going to wear it this winter in her memory.
She was truly a good friend and beautiful person. I was so lucky to have known her and share many hours with her. Her talents were amazing.
I know how she is missed by her family which meant so much to her.
Rest in peace my dear friend. ♥
