Alan Haufrect Obituary

Alan Mark Haufrect
04/03/1941 - 08/17/2024
Alan Mark Haufrect, beloved father, actor, and later, sports marketing executive, died at his home in Century City on Saturday, August 17th. He was 83.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Fred Haufrect and Hilda Haufrect (née Rosenberg), Alan was raised in Houston, Texas, attended Bellaire High School, and was later inducted into the school's hall of fame.
A graduate of Tulane University and then the Yale School of Drama, Alan went on to established himself as a go-to character actor in a variety of films, TV shows, commercials and stage plays in his almost 30-year career.
In 1977, he married Kate McClure Lyman (1955-2015) and, in 1982, welcomed a baby girl, Sarah McClure Haufrect, into the world, whom he described as his greatest accomplishment.
In the second half of life, Alan translated his skills to the sports industry, serving as a V.P. for two companies, Aminco International (USA), and then WinCraft, where he spent a decade leading the jewelry, pins and accessories division to great success, and popularizing the now ubiquitous WinCraft "Pin Trading Centers," now an indelible part of the sports fan experience.
Never boastful unless speaking of others, Alan never missed an opportunity to remind folks that he was just a cowboy from Texas. His gentlemanly ways and incomparable wit will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his daughter Sarah Haufrect and son-in-law Jared Cote, his two brothers Eric and Dale Haufrect and four nephews Adam, Ian, Brian and Mark Haufrect, along with an entourage of friends who filled his life with joy.

Alan´s contagious smile, his great personality, and his kindness will truly be missed. Sarah I know it may not be easy, but I hope you will be able to go on knowing you had an awesome dad who loved you to the moon and back.

Sending every ounce of love to Sarah and family. Alan was a lovely individual who played a role in my life's play! He made an impression, and I was honoured to have been treated as a member of the family during my time living in Los Angeles. Alan was the epitome of a doting father. Such a gift. Rest well.

Alan is one of our Bellaire High School in Bellaire Texas(Houston) who everyone knew and admired. We all knew he would be successful on what he choose to do especially the entertainment business. A great guy. Warm and friendly. Such a nice person.

Every single time we met. Laughter. Even when things weren´t working (his computer/his phone/etc), he still made me laugh. Always.

Those of us who were contemporaries at Bellaire were in awe of Alan's talents. I lost touch over the years but never lost the memories of his acting. His memory is a blessing.

So very sorry for your loss, Sarah. Your dad had a wonderful life. I didn't know he was an actor. From the list of movies I'm sure he had some great stories. Big Hugs!

One thing I will always remember about Alan is how much of a southern gentleman he was; always saying, please and thank you and showing his sincerest appreciation and kindness.
Even in the midst of his illness, Alan always made me laugh and would complement me countless times.
Although Alan was in great pain he never failed to tell me "bless you" or "gesundheit" after I would sneeze. when I accidentally bumped into something Alan would be more concerned about me than himself asking me multiple times if I was OK. Moments like that melted my heart.
