Albert Gaon Obituary

Gaon
Albert David Gaon peacefully passed away in his home on December 31, 2010 at the age of 91. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His family and friends provided him with immense happiness, and his charm and charisma will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Albert was born to David and Victoria Gaon on October 20, 1919 in Wad Madani, Sudan. In Sudan he was a successful shipping commodities trader, and in 1948 Albert moved his family to Geneva, Switzerland where he continued to flourish as a trader. Through his travels around the world, Albert met and wed Rosita Gaon in Mexico City where they lived for 6 years. In 1972, Albert and Rosita moved to Houston where Albert utilized his entrepreneurial skills in real estate, while enjoying continued success in the commodities market. Throughout his life and in Houston, Albert was an active and philanthropic member of the Jewish community and generously established endowments, scholarships and contributed to the construction of several schools and synagogues.
Most dear to Albert was his wife and family. Albert was predeceased by his parents and his children David Gaon, Ruth Singer, and Arturo Singer. He is survived by his "shaynkeit" and wife of 45 years, Rosita, his siblings Nissim Gaon and wife Renee, Leon Gaon and wife Sholly, Matilda Tamman and husband Albert, and brother-in-law Ben Guefen and wife Arline, his children, Roger Gaon, Vivian Gaon, and Daniel Singer and wife Stella, his grandchildren, Alexander Gaon, Steven Gaon, Brigitte Shamoun, Daron Gaon, Lauren Harris and husband Brian, Robyn Singer, Roselle Oberstein and husband Jacob, Albert Singer, Ruthie Singer, Rina Singer, Daniella Singer and David Singer, and his great-grandchildren, Zachary Gaon, Grant Gaon, Alexander Shamoun and Alexandra Harris.

...Rosita and Albert were the essence of what it means to be partners and they inspired me in many more ways.
...Whenever I left their company - I always felt enriched.
