Andrew Maxwell "Max" Weldon

Andrew Weldon Obituary

ANDREW MAXWELL "MAX" WELDON passed away May 14, 2002 at Southeast Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX. after a short illness. At the time of death, his wife Lydia Flowers Weldon, his daughter Gloria Lea, his sister Jackie Weldon Powers, his brother-in-law Joel Powers, and his life-long friend Roger Ewing, attended him. Max had resided in Houston for nearly three years employed as a quality control technician for Campbell Concrete Co. Prior to moving to Houston, he resided in Haughton, LA. for over 25 years and was employed by various concrete companies in the area. In addition to those mentioned above, other survivor's include Max's sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sarah Flowers Price and Paul Price; their two children, Lindsay and Matthew; brother-in-law, Gregg Flowers and his two children Adrian and Pete; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gloria and Buddy Flowers. Max was born in Shreveport, LA. on August 16, 1946 to Benjamin Franklin "Jack" Weldon and Hazel Kincaid Weldon, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in Bossier City, LA. He attended The First Methodist Church of Bossier and graduated from Bossier High School in 1964. He attended LSU after high school and remained a "Tiger" fan throughout his life. Another favorite activity of Max's was his annual crawfish boil aptly named "Weldon's Annual Crawfish Boil." His 11th annual was held at his sister's home in Clear Lake Shores, TX. on March 30, 2002, when he cooked for sixty friends and relatives. His daughter Lea was the "Apple of Her Father's Eye." He was always at her side through countless basketball and softball games from age 5 to 16. Lea will graduate from LSU Shreveport in computer science on May 15 and this made her father a very proud man. Max was a kind, fun-loving person with a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home, 601 U. S. Hwy 80 East, Haughton, LA. 71037 (318) 949-9415. Thursday, May 16, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. A chapel service will also be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Friday, May 17, 2002 at 2 P.M. with interment immediately following at Hill Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Ewing, Gregg Flowers, Dave Fuqua, Jim Johnson, Joel Powers, and Paul Price. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
