I met Colleen , Maureen and Bridget when I moved to New Orleans in 1976. They were my first friends in the city. I will never forget all of the fun moments that we had together on Dublin St.in their home.Colleen was always warm and welcoming to me and all of my friends. Their home was a safe haven for me. All my love goes out to her and her family. She will be remembered forever. Thank god she is at peace.

What a beautiful child of God Colleen is and a reminder to us of how to treat others. Colleen was such a kind and gentle soul and was forever giving of herself. For that gift she gave, we will be eternally grateful.
We love you Colleen.

Mr Spud Sean Ryan I read this today and God put you on my heart
Little I knew this morning God was going to call your name in life we loved you dearly in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone for part of me went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
We love you very much Spud and you and your family will be in our hearts and prayers as ya'll deal with the loss of a dearly loved one.

When my sister, Maureen told me of Colleen's passing, I was stunneed! I remember all of the nights I spent at your house. I remember being so scared of Gretchen, the dog. I remember Colleen teaching (or trying) to teach me how to do a cartwheel. Still can't do it. I remember playing Miss America and forgetting I was Miss California and we woke up your Mom from a nap! Yikes! Colleen went to the beach with our family, we went to the pool with your's. Colleen was so much a part of my childhood, knowing that she is gone is very sad. My sympathy to Tommy, Mary Jane, Laura Lou, Maureen and Bridget. My heart now has a hole in it ..Sincerely Patti Leeds Samul

Pierre Miral, my cousin and Laura Lou's husband just told me the sad news about Colleen who left all of us. All the Buchon family from France would like to join all members of the Blackburn and Ryan families by thought and players under these very sad circumstances. Like Colleen, our sister in law, Marie Francoise Buchon Toledo and our brother in law, Pierre Massei left us over the last couple of month after having fought against the same illness. Families get closer and even stronger when such a dear member leaves. Laura lou and Pierre : we shall be with you by prayers particularly tomorow tuesday. God bless you and your family. In March of 2010 I was in the hospital for heart and kidney failure and Jim and Colleen offered to put me in their guest house and take care of me...a teacher was asked "who is my neighbor" to which he answered with the story of the good Samaritan..Colleen treated me like a neighbor. May she rest in peace.

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children . . .; who has left the world better than he found it. . .; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction.-----Bessie Stanley (1905)
I was honored to be Colleen's friend.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My deepest sympathy to Colleen's family.
The thing I will remember most about Colleen was her ability to find humor in life and always make you smile.
Colleen was filled with love for all. She has left her body but her love is still here, especially with her family.
