On July 9, 2011, Mary Elizabeth ("Beth") Morrow passed away in her home in Pasadena, Texas. She was born Mary Elizabeth Rayburn on November 30, 1924 in Gage, Oklahoma.
Beth is preceded in death by father, Lyle Rayburn; mother Hester (Slack) Yarbrough; husband, Lt. Col Eugene Taylor Morrow, and great-grandson Sebastian Proett.
A gifted composer and arranger, Beth's original song "It's Oh So Luscious" was nominated for a Latin Grammy in two categories. Beth was also a talented jazz keyboard musician and was once invited onstage by Jimmy Buffett to play in his Coral Reefer Band. Despite such talent, Beth always placed a promising musical career second to God, her husband and family. She served as church organist at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pasadena for 30 years.
On her last day, Beth had family and church members at her side, while her good friend and renowned classical guitarist Juan Manuel comforted all with his beautiful renditions.
She is survived by brother Lyle Rayburn and sister Kris King Meyers, children April Morrow, David Morrow and wife Catherine, Marty Proett and husband Mark, Steven Morrow and wife Janet, Karen Arinder, Kris Casey and husband Kem, and Jo Dinsdale and husband Kenny; also, grandchildren Grey Gorndt, Heather Ronan, Jeanne Lutz, John Morrow, Rachael Warren, Jesse Proett, Xavier Proett, Dane Morrow, Dallin Morrow, Marissa Lindsey, Devin Morrow, McKenna Morrow, Dustin Arinder, Candice Arinder, Christopher Arinder, Erin Nobles, Ryan Nobles, Keri Casey, Colton Casey, Jennifer Dinsdale, Kenny Dinsdale, Brian Dinsdale, Michael Dinsdale; also, 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pasadena, Texas at 10 am on Thursday, July 14, 2011. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Pasadena.
