Hayward "Mac" McLeod, 98, born on November 4, 1927, passed away on March 3, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. Son of Edna and Chloe "Mac" McLeod, he was born in Galveston and raised in Harrisburg and Houston. He moved with wife Josephine to Sugar Land in 1963 to raise a family and permanently settle. He is survived by son Michael and grandson Toby; granddaughter Haley Ilgen and great-granddaughters Leighton and Collin; grandson Mitchell McLeod and great-grandson Tyler; and grandson Daniel McLeod. He was predeceased by wife Josephine and son Vincent. As a young man, Mac traveled the globe as a mariner and soldier and regaled generations with pithy observations and adventurous tales. He graduated from University of St. Thomas in Houston and maintained a vigorous interest in philosophy, music, and the fine arts. He was an amateur naturalist and keen observer of the world and was able to maintain independence and active social engagement to the very end. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner for 63 years, 705 St. Theresa Boulevard, Sugar Land Texas, on April 7, 2026 at 11:00. Reception to follow.
