Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 6:00 8:00pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3803 West Lake Houston Parkway, in Kingwood, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 22 at Christ the King. Jim was a loving husband to his wife, Janine Teague Eggers, and a deeply devoted father to their six children: Whitney (23, a graduate of Trinity University), twins Kaley and Lauren (20, attending Baylor as Juniors), Spencer (17), Parker (15), and Conner (13). He is also survived by his Mother and Father in Fairmont, OK, his brothers Joel Eggers of Fairmont, and John Eggers of San Diego, and sister Ann Eggers Williams of Dallas. Jim was born January 7, 1960 in Fairmont, Oklahoma to Mr. Milton Eggers and Lee Lemke Eggers. He attended Garber High School and Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1982 with a BS in Accounting. He started his career in Public Accounting with Arthur Andersen, working with the firm in Tulsa, Chicago, and Houston 1982 through 2002. He subsequently joined KPMG in Houston, where he was an audit partner and the firm's U.S. Audit Sector Leader - Energy until his untimely passing. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oklahoma and Texas Societies of Certified Public Accountants. Jim was very involved in the community, serving on the Humble ISD Board of Trustees from 2004 until the present, and most recently as the currently-serving Board President. He also served in various capacities at the Houston Food Bank, Downtown Houston Association, the Kingwood YMCA, and Board of Directors and past-President of SEARCH, a downtown homeless service organization. He was a confirmation leader, adult and youth Sunday School teacher, marriage class leader, and was the Chair of the 2005 Church vision and capital building campaign. Pastor Al Doering described Jim as "a man who was deeply committed to Jesus Christ, his family, and his community. He will be deeply missed." Pastor Doyle Theimer adds, "Jim was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people paid attention because of his keen insights." In his time away from work and volunteer service, Jim enjoyed bicycling, frequently competing in charity bike runs including the MS 150 events - and competitions. The Eggers were also enthusiastic theater patrons and cherished their family time together at their Lake Livingston home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Jim Eggers Memorial Fund c/o Christ the King Lutheran Church, Kingwood, Texas. I had the privilege of working with Jim during my business career and as a volunteer with HISD. In every case I found Jim to be extremely professional, ethical and courteous. He was also really, really smart. Scary smart. He could boil an issue down like no one else I've seen. Our community will be poorer having lost Jim. My condolences to the family.

My sympathy to your family. Jim's dad and my dad were first cousins, I didn't know Jim, as I left Farimont about the time he was born, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Our thoughts are with you, Janine, and all your family. Jim was a wonderful man - a great worker with a wonderful disposition and attitude. I will always remember "Eggman" as a dedicated, honest, sincere and smart employee. He cared deeply about his family and friends and was always there for them. Jim made the world a better place and we will all miss him very much.

My heart and prayers go out to you, Janine and your children. Try to remember...that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. The lakehouse has been a tremendous source of comfort and refuge for me, I pray, in time it will do the same for your family. May God bless you all and know he is with you every step of the way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult moment. Mr. Eggers was always thoughtful and caring all along my career in KPMG. I worked for him in several engagements and was part of his partner circle. When I first got sick he was the first one to provide his support and to make me feel that I had a family here in Houston (all my family is in Mexico). He was a gentle hearth and I am sure his kindness will remain in our hearths.

I knew Jim for 25 years after working with him @ Andersen in Tulsa. I'll always remember his thoughtfulness, intelligence and sharp wit. Janine, you and the kids are in our thoughts and prayers.

As a former auditor, I noted that every person who worked for Jim, was eager for his approval and hopeful that he or she would some day be as respected and capable as Jim was. It is a tragic loss in the sense that Jim meant so much to so many people. The esteem of so many offered to one who was gone so soon confirms that I was blessed to know him and my deepest sympathies are extended to his family.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to Janine and the family of Jim Eggers. Although no short notation in a guest book could capture all the qualities of any man, and especially Jim, here are a few of my fond memories of him.

It doesn't take long to think of words to describe Jim Eggers. Family man. Thoughtful professional. Solid citizen. Caring friend. Unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Man of integrity. Sneaky-good sense of humor. A good guy, to his core.

It was easy to find yourself in a very "deep" conversation with Jim - he was so thoughtful and reflective. He helped me in my maturing faith and in my dealings with both people and professional issues, even as our work lives veered apart.

Many years ago, during one of our impromptu "counseling sessions", I asked Jim what his legacy in life would be. He immediately centered his focus on his six children and what their lives could mean to their future families, community and country. To me, that crystallized Jim's consistently unselfish style of thinking, and action, - "how can I help others become better by what I do?" was his mantra.

We have lost a truly good man, and will miss him. He leaves us with fond memories of many good times. He leaves the wonderful legacy of his family. He also leaves with them a legacy of leadership and caring that will endure for many years to come.

God bless you and welcome you, Jim. We will miss you.

Jim will be greatly missed but the memory of family times together will always be with us. I will never forget the times we shared in Oklahoma as a family. He was a great man.
