Mary Belle Walling Kleb

Mary Kleb Obituary

Mary Belle Walling Kleb died, and re-joined her creator, February 5, 2008. Mary was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was loved and highly esteemed by all who knew her. Mary Belle Flournoy was born and raised in Sour Lake Texas where she enjoyed the simplicity and sense of community in this small Texas town. Mary's parents raised her to be kind, compassionate, patient, and loving. She learned these lessons well and carried them with her throughout her life. After graduating high school, she attended and graduated from the University of Texas with a teaching degree. Mary taught until she met and married, the first great love of her life, Bill Walling. Mary then retired from teaching to devote her time to loving and nurturing her growing family. Bill and Mary faithfully attended the Methodist Church everywhere they lived. Mary and Bill devoted their time, talent, gifts and service in each of these communities. Mary was also active in charity work with other groups like Spindletop International. Mary had an unusual zest for life and enjoyed a number of extracurricular activities like golf, dancing, exercising, bridge and painting. Ten years after Bill's death, Mary met and married, the second great love of her life, Mel Kleb. Mary and Mel enjoyed 8 beautiful years of a genuine and abiding love. Mary will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. Mary is survived by four of her five children; Jeff Walling of Georgetown TX. Paula Walling- Harvey of Wimberley TX., Suzette Walling-Rominck of Aiken, South Carolina and Carol Leaf of Houston. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Aubrey, Anson, Aaron, Amie and Annmarie Walling all of Georgetown TX. Mary is preceded in death by, her husband of 37 years, Bill Walling, her husband of 8 years Mel Kleb and her precious daughter Diane Walling. We all feel a great sense of loss and sadness at Mary's passing but know that she is now in that perfect place that we call Heaven. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until nine o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 8th of February at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Boulevard in Houston. Funeral services will be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 9th of February at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 306 E. 15th Street, Houston, Texas 77008. Interment will follow at Cobb Cemetery.

Good-bye and godspeed to our friends Mary and Mel, who found that love can heal individual sorrows and who departed this life together, leaving behind a cadre of recent acquaintances who will miss them at Aiken Spring Steeplechase this year. We will light a candle and place a wager in your memory!

Our condolences to both families.
