Michael DeVoll, 59, beloved friend, mentor, and family man passed away on April 6, 2023 after a valiant fight against cancer. Preceded in death by father, James Stancel DeVoll, brother, James Craig DeVoll, grandparents Robert and Ola Craig, and George and Ida DeVoll. Survived by husband, Gary Gee, mother, Judy DeVoll, sister, Michelle Files (Leonard), brother, Kelly DeVoll (Tia). A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, 2:30 pm at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Street, Houston, TX. Full obituary at legacy.com.

Michael came into my life at a time when I felt nothing could quell the sadness in my heart and the terror in my brain. He was a constant and continued to help me learn more about myself and what it meant to love myself even after I was no longer in the same city. I found out about his loss today as I was recounting his love of movie nachos to a friend. Michael, I´m never ever going to forget your kindness and your wisdom and your light.

I'm so sad about Michael's passing. He was a bright light and spark of joy. He will be missed by so many who loved him. I was honored to meet him as a co-worker in the early 1990s and to become his friend. Deepest condolences to his husband Gary, the DeVoll and Gee families, and all of his friends and colleagues.
