O.H. Stelter Obituary

O.H. Stelter
1924-2020
O. H. STELTER JR,, resident of Houston for 95 years, passed peacefully and gently into God's hands February 1, 2020. He was born June 26, 1924, in Houston to Otto Henry and Sophie K. Stelter. O.H. was a graduate of Lamar High School, Class of 1941, attended the University of Houston and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1950. As most of the Greatest Generation, he proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps, as a Pilot and Aerial Engineer in Colorado Springs during WWII. He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Margolius in 1946. Following graduation, he embarked on a long and distinguished career in Truck Equipment Sales, Engineering, and Fleet Support for several companies, including Stewart and Stevenson, Koenig Iron Works, Holan Corporation, and Houston Lighting and Power (now Centerpoint Energy). He retired in 1990 and became involved in the community as a devoted volunteer for the University Green Homeowners Association, and a founding member and ringleader of the Lamar 41'ers.
He was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, St. George's Episcopal Church and St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, League City, including Vestry and Senior Warden positions. Mary passed away in 2004 after 58 years of marriage. O.H. found love again in Baybrook Mall by meeting Claire Allen while mallwalking. They married in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Claire Stelter; children, Sandra Stelter (Donna), Paul Stelter (Susan), Susan McKee (Scott), and "adopted" daughter Maggie McPhail; grandchildren, Phillip Stelter, Stephanie Myers (Ryan), Shelley Farmakakis (Justin), Holly McKee, & Robin McKee. He will be sorely missed but knowing that he is now with our Lord is a comfort to those who loved him. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 2508 Saint Christopher Ave, (on 518, across from CCISD ball stadium) in League City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kramer Family Fund, Anglican Church of Tanzania, c/o St. Christopher's Episcopal Church or St. James House 5800 W. Baker Rd., Baytown, TX 77520.

I´m so sad to have missed OHs memorial service. I loved talking to him when he would visit the thrift store with Claire. I loved our lunches at Kelley´s. I learned so much from him. He is genuinely missed.
