Paul Gordon Obituary

Paul Tulane
Gordon III
1938-2022
Paul Tulane Gordon III, age 83, passed away suddenly at his home on the 30th of January 2022. Tulane was born on the 4th of August 1938 in Houston, Texas to Paul Tulane Gordon Jr. and Vivian Charlton Gordon. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Dianne Asbury Gordon, his daughter Gabrielle Gordon Ginn and her husband Robert James Ginn, his son Paul Tulane Gordon IV and his grandchildren Georgia Marie Ginn and Margaret Ginn Milner and her husband John Sheridan Milner and great grandson John Ross Milner. He also leaves behind his niece Vivian Arnold O'Leary and nephew Gordon Thomas Arnold. He is predeceased by his sister Grace Gordon Arnold and her husband Thomas Oren Arnold. Tulane was known for his unending love of Christ, his wife, children and grandchildren. Tulane and his family spent much of their time together on his ranch of 50 plus years cultivating a love of animals and nature in New Ulm, Texas where he was rarely seen without his beloved Standard Poodles by his side. Laughter, music and dancing were a daily part of life. He always had a smile on his face and made you feel special. He attended River Oaks Elementary, St. John's School, Southern Arizona School for Boys in Sabino Canyon where he was an animal trapper and handler for Walt Disney's movie "The Living Desert", Schreiner High School on Texas' beautiful Guadalupe River, The University of Texas where he was a member of the KA fraternity and The University of Houston. Even though he was a microbiology major he became a real estate broker, developer, contractor, cattleman and oilman. Among his many passions in life was the love of his Southern Heritage, where he held many titles, was at the top of his list. Tulane was particularly proud of his 25 year volunteer work for The Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo where he was a Vice Chairman, Captain & Committeeman, as well as, a member of the "Red Hot Cookers" BBQ Cook-off team. Additional notable positions, titles and memberships that Tulane held during his life are as follows: board member of the Haley Memorial Library and Research Center, board member of Antoine National Bank, past president of St. Charles Bay Hunting Club, member of Houston Country Club and Admiral of The Texas Navy. It cannot be overstated enough that Tulane's friends throughout each season of his life meant the absolute world to him. Lastly, it should be noted that Tulane expressed his love for his family to the very end even when words were hard to find. A memorial service is to be conducted one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 24th of May at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in the chapel. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be directed to The Nita Stewart Haley Memorial Library, 1805 W. Indiana Midland, TX 79701; Amazing Place 3735 Drexel Houston, TX 77027.

I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I worked for him 50 years ago while going to college. We shared many of the same hobbies. He did not know it, but he was a big influence on my life. Rest in peace my friend.

Dianne, for some reason y'all came to my mind today. And when I Googled looking for Tulane, here was his obit. I am shocked! I've missed y'all so much and, of course, loved being with you and Tulane always - so many cherished memories. Maybe we can get together sometime. I hope so. With much love, Carolyn

I am sorry to hear of his passing. I have not seen him in a while, but when I was younger, I enjoyed being around him and his family. Wonderful man !

I wish you my deepest sympathy to bring you comfort to face the days ahead and hold loving memories of Mr. Gordon forever in your heart. I will always have fond memories of my visits, and of the few times I spent at your farm in New Ulm. Mr. Gordon taught me to drive a standard in your old jeep there.

Growing up in Houston, I recall many times that Tulane was frequently at our home to visit my brother Louis; they eventually were at Schreiner High School together. Tulane was always nice to me - he was a delightful Southern gentleman. He will be missed. Prayers of strength for my sweet friend, Dianne - Tulane's wife, and their family.

Tulane and I have been friends for over 40 years. He loved his family, his friends, and his country. We all hunted, fished, and had great times together and with our families; I never heard him say a negative word about anybody. He was a great man, a great friend, and will be missed by all of us.
