Robert Coles Obituary

Robert Elijah
"Bob" Coles, Sr.
1942-2021
Robert Elijah "Bob" Coles, Sr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, the 15th of October 2021. He was 79 years of age.
Bob was born in Houston on the 30th of April 1942, a seventh generation Texan. On the 20th of October 1978, Bob married the love of his life, Sandra K. "Sandi" Coles, to whom he was married to for 44 years.
Bob held interests and hobbies as diverse and wonderful as the man himself. These included hunting, fishing, golf, traveling, astronomy, watching all kinds of sports including the family fantasy football league, working the daily sudoku puzzles and playing bridge. He enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips over many years with his father, sons and brother. He also had participated in weekly bridge groups and tournaments during his lifetime. In pursuit of leading a life well lived, he and his beloved wife took many road trips, fulfilling their passion for food and Southwestern arts, including Hopi Kachina dolls and silver and turquoise jewelry.
Until his retirement from Southwest Valve, Inc. in 2015, Bob was always available to mentor young or new employees, sharing his knowledge and many years of experience in the oil & gas industry. He was beyond proud of his children and grandchildren and will continue to live on through them in the experiences they shared throughout his lifetime.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, G. Warren Coles and Gloria Lewis Coles; and his sister, Sharon K. Coles. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandi; daughter, Erin E. Koford; sons, Robert E. Coles, Jr. (Viviana) and Major A. Coles (Ashley); grandchildren, Jacey Koford, Nathan Koford, Emily Koford, Evelyn Coles, Elijah Coles, Adeline Coles and Rylie Coles; siblings, S. Lynn Jones (Jack), Donna C. Spriggs and Warren L. Coles (Kathi), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Sandi remains grateful to Bob's family for their support and Bob's sister, Donna, for the countless miles driven, hours spent sharing side-by-side, years of medical appointments and at home care. Additionally, Sandi would like to thank the many friends that have provided endless support over the years, Dr. Harley for his dedicated care of Bob over the last two years and most recently his hospice nurse, Adonis Bwatwa, for Bob's peaceful transition to his eternal resting place.
A funeral service and celebration of Bob's life is to be conducted at twelve o'clock noon on Tuesday, the 19th of October, in the chapel of the Texas Liberty Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, where Pastor Brad Jurischk from St. Timothy Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow nearby on the cemetery grounds.
