Samuel Alford Obituary

SAMUEL FREDERICK ALFORD, 55, of New Ulm, TX lost his courageous battle with cancer at home surrounded by loved ones on August 4, 2006. Sam grew up in the Spring Branch Memorial Area and graduated from Spring Woods High School in the Class of 1969. Sam attended The University of Texas at Tyler on a football scholarship from 1969 to 1972. He was the fourth son of five boys of Vivienne and Parker Alford. Sam's professional life was spent in the Oil and Gas Industry. He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Parker and his brothers, Larry and Parker II. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Earl Alford; mother, Vivienne C. Alford Arcus; daughter, Valerie Alford Forrest and husband Barry of Austin, Texas, son, Brent Parker Alford and wife, Dacia of Tomball, Texas, 5 grandchildren, Parker, Preston, Presley, Hudson and Falyn; In-laws; Jack and Millie Earl; brothers, Chris and John, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 7, 2006 at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St., Columbus, Texas. Funeral Services will be conducted at Henneke Funeral Home 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 7, 2006. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX Monday August 7, at 2:30 P.M. Shirley emailed me the write up about Sam, I also went to high school with him, he was fun and made me laugh. I used to give him the answers to the test behind the teachers back.....I'm so saddened to hear of his lost battle.....from the other write ups he was loved and a very good person.....I remember him with warm thoughts, his family will be in my prayers...

well i remmeber that day in 1966 when you showed up on the practice field the new fast back from memorial. well sam yyou lived up to all the talk and more. god gives us all a chance to run in this great race called life it was a blessing to me to run along with you for a long long tiome till you left me in your dust. in jesus may your family have joy and peace knowing you are with our father now lookind down upon all of us as we do our best to do you proud go number 22.
