Timothy Strong Obituary

Timothy Strong, Timothy Strong, 66, died peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Tim was born on January 24, 1948 to William and Fran Strong. He is preceded in death by his mother.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Brenda; two sons Dennis Wilson and Tucker Wilson (who is stationed in the US Navy in Hawaii, but flew in for his dad's service from school in Washington State); a daughter Virginia Bryant; two grandchildren: Skye Ballew and Saxon Ballew; his father William Strong; a brother Lon Strong and his wife Jill and their children Nathan and Marisa.
Tim graduated in 1966 from LaPorte High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin until he entered the US Army where he managed Pershing missiles in Europe. After completing his military service, he returned to university and graduated in 1974 with a degree in accounting from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
Tim worked for the Cullen Family for many years. During that time, he and Brenda resided in LaPorte, Texas where they spent many weekends fishing the Gulf for trout and redfish. In 2005, he and Brenda relocated to Tarkington Prairie, Texas-their little piece of heaven where Tim helped manage the J.R.C. Cleveland Exotic Game Ranch.
One of Tim's greatest joys in life was sailing. He loved the camaraderie and lifelong friendships that he made while participating in the sport. He began sailing at a young age and competed in many local, regional, and national competitive sailing events during his life. One of his most exciting sailing adventures was when he served as co-captain on a return ocean sailing trip from England to Texas which stopped along the way at numerous wonderful and exciting ports of call. This was a sailing trip Tim never forgot.
Tim's other passion in life was being outdoors and he enjoyed hunting in his later years with his good friend Billy Kerber.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11 o'clock in the morning at St. John's Episcopal Church, 815 S. Broadway, LaPorte, Texas 77571
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations in Tim's memory be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center/Lung Cancer Treatment and/or Research, P.O. Box 301439, Houston, Texas, 77230 or the charity of your choice.

I was deeply saddened today to learn of Tim's passing. Tim was one of the nicest people I've ever known and I will always cherish all the great memories of all the fun times we all shared many years ago down at the Bay. My love and deepest sympathy go out to his family. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Brenda, Mr. Strong, Lon, and the Strong family. Tim and I were friends for more than 50 years and spent summers water skiing, sailing, and 'tormenting' the girls at HYC and TCYC in our youth. He and I were also roommates at the University of Texas. Great memories of great times with a great friend. He will truly be missed.

Tim was a funny man, always disarming you with a joke and a smile. I will always remember him laughing at something silly. He will be greatly missed. My love and condolences to Brenda, his family and friends.

Lon, so very sorry to see that Tim passed away. Much too young to be taken from his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Bill during this sad time. Anne Peyton Muntz

I was saddened by this news. Tim and I shared alot of fun together growing up on the bay -- Tim always greeted me with that great simle and laugh, no matter how long it had been between visits.
