William Kemper Obituary

William Lee (Billy) Kemper, Jr., age 82, passed on to his reward on Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Houston, Texas. The son of William Lee Kemper, Sr. and Lois Marlin Kemper, Bill grew up in the Riverside area of Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School and the University of Houston. Gifted with a keen intellect and a sharp wit, he practiced law in the family firm in Houston and later retired to his beloved farm in Tomball, TX. In recent years, he also resided part-time in Baytown, TX where his wife was employed.
Bill was fiercely devoted to his family, friends, tree farm, corgis, and in later years, even two cats. He loved the outdoors and considered the woods both his spiritual sanctuary and fitness center. He carefully nurtured the forest and generously shared his beautiful surroundings with others.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas Kemper, and first wife Sarah Barrow Kemper. He is survived by his wife Cathy Switzer Kemper; son William Lee Kemper III and wife Ann Marie; daughter Amy Kemper; and step-children Edward Kemper, Randy Kemper, Clayton Stubblefield, Emily Stubblefield Martens and husband Dustin. He is also survived by two beautiful granddaughters, Savannah and Lily Kemper, daughters of Lee and Ann Marie.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Salem Lutheran Church, 22601 Lutheran Church Road, Tomball, TX 77377. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or Bill's favorite charity, Heifer International.
