Chizek, Janice A.

Janice A. Chizek, age 70, of 4315 County Road U, Newton, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Janice was born June 9, 1943 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Norma Guetschow Nagel. Janice attended Valders High School and graduated with the class of 1961. She then became employed at Lakefield Telephone Company for the next several years. Janice then worked side by side with her husband Carmen at Chizek Transport for the next 49 years. On September 14, 1963 she married Carmen Chizek at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Janice and Carmen had the honor of celebrating their 50 year Golden Anniversary last year in 2013. Janice was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church. She was an avid bowler and bowled in several of the Manitowoc bowling leagues. Janice enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Star Lake with her immediate family along with her sister Carol and her family. Christmas was a special time of year for Janice with decorating the home for family and friends to enjoy. She also enjoyed following her son Mike's tractor pulling events which were held nationally.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years: Carmen; two children: Ann (Allen) Liermann, Rhinelander, WI; Mike (Debbie) Chizek, Newton; four dearly loved grandchildren: Amber, Alex, and Abbly Liermann and Codey Chizek; one sister: Carol (Walter "Mike") Hansmann, Kiel, WI; sister-in-law: Donna Nagel, Valders, WI; brother-in-law: Lee (Pat) Chizek, Manitowac, WI; one niece, four nephews, friend and longtime coworker: Mary Jo Schmidt; her pet bassett hound: Bonnie; along with other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Norma Nagel; one brother: Ronald Nagel.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2014 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Benjamin Schaefer and Rev. Christopher Hoppe. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and then at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
