Earl Lewis Obituary

Palm Springs - Earl LeRoy Lewis, affectionately known as Lew, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 15, 2025, in Palm Springs, California, at the age of 89.

Born on December 10, 1935, in Notus, Idaho, Lew lived a rich and adventurous life. His career with SeaLand shipping took him across the globe, and he relished the experiences he gathered along the way. He was a natural storyteller, often regaling friends and family with vivid tales from his travels-especially his time spent in Vietnam, Cadiz, Spain and Genoa, Italy. His stories, like his spirit, were colorful, warm, and full of life.

Lew had a deep love for his roots in Idaho, where he leaves behind family and lifelong friends who remember him for his wit, generosity, and gentle presence.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Kreiman of Caldwell, nephew Bryan and nieces Gayla, Anita, Christy, Debbie and Cindy, all in the Caldwell/Middleton area

He is also survived by his beloved husband, Richard Trepanier of Healdsburg, California, with whom he shared 65 joyful years of companionship and love.

Lew's life was marked by curiosity, compassion, and connection. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and fondly remembered for the laughter he shared and the memories he created.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Lew's memory are encouraged to share a story or raise a glass in his name-preferably somewhere with a good view and a sea breeze.

Cousin Lew it is hard to say goodbye. From the rides in your Olds convertible in Notus when I was very young, to the patience you displayed in teaching me to play pool in San Francisco, to the trip to Mexico for your birthday, you have been not only my family but a great friend. I will miss our texts during 49ers and Patriots football games and frequent calls as well as your messages of love and encouragement. Most importantly, I will miss your magnificent sense of humor; you truly have been a bright and shining light in my life.
To Richard, Marilyn and family and to Harold's family, I send my condolences in the loss of your partner, brother and uncle; I will miss my cousin dearly and know as I look toward the heavens, there will be a new, bright shining star. Farewell Lewis...I will see you on the other side,
Cousin Doug
