We took him too much for granted. Perhaps we all take each other too much for granted. The routines of life distract us: our own pursuites make us oblivious:our anxieties and sorrows, unmindful. The beauties of the famiiar go unremarked. We do not treasure each other enough.
He was a gift to us for thirty-seven years. When the gift was finally snatched away, I realized how great it was. Then I could not tell him. An outpouring of letters arrived, many expressing appreciation for Mallory. They all made me weep again: each word of praise a stab of loss.
How can I be thankful, in his gone-ness,for what he was? I find I am. But the pain of the no more outweighs the gratitude of the once was. Will it always be so. I didnt know how much I loved him untill he was gone. A piece of me died that day and I will never be whole untill my son is at my side.

I remember Mallory-who I called "Pally"-driving my daughter, Gretchen, around in his noisy VW Bug. I always hoped they'd make it to their destination. He was such a kind and loving person. I'm deeply saddened by his death, especially at such a young age. He had so much left to give to the world. I hope you and Carl are having a great time-sharing a beer.

Dear Fern, and family. You know I only knew Mallory as a baby. But he was the one who made me a great-great-uncle through his son. Something that has become important to me as time goes by. May your find Peace at some point with God's blessing. Love, Uncle Robbie

I met Mallory when I was fifteen years old and we spent the next six years together. That was twenty years ago and I can't imagine that I'll never hear his voice again.
A part of me died the night you left... I'll love you always and I'll be waiting for you.

We were Mallory's first friends at Tahoe Valley Elementry. Both my brother and I used to hang out with Mallory, go camping, get into trouble, etc. Fern my brother Matthew and I are absolutely shocked to hear about this. Even though we lost contact over the years I've often thought about him and what he was doing in his adult life. As a father of 7 my heart really goes out to his wife and child. God Bless All of You!

Rest in peace my friend. I haven't seen you since I joined the Navy, but I would often remember the great times we had as young teenagers... It's hard to hear about so many meeting their end too soon, you will always have a place in my heart. I will pray for your wife and child and the others you left behind. May they eventually find comfort and solace knowing you are with the angels and God himself.
God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for your family,
relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.
