Ronald George "Ron" Slate

1943 - 2024

Caldwell, Idaho - Ronald George "Ron" Slate, 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 23, 2024 in Nampa, Idaho. Ron was born October 17, 1943 in Nyssa, Oregon to Olive Bailey Schritter Slate and Reinhold "Roney" Schritter. Ron was raised in Apple Valley along with his brother Tim and sister Velma. He married Jeanne Holden in 1965 and they had two children, Laura and Delmer. Ron worked for JR Simplot Transportation, retiring after 33 years. His biggest joy in life was his wonderful family and good friends. Ron loved spending winters in Arizona where he and Jeanne made lifelong friendships with many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, RZR riding and spending time at their cabin in Donnelly. He loved his horses and had a huge heart for animals.

Ron is survived by his wife Jeanne of 59 years, children Laura (Darr) Johnson and Delmer (Michelle) Slate, brother Tim Slate of Burns, Oregon and sister Velma Boren of Emmett. Surviving also are his grandchildren Tyler (Megan) Slate, Heather (Keven) Swenson, Kaycee (Keith) Edens, Clay Johnson, and Chase Slate; great grandchildren Regen Swenson, Kayelle Edens, Kimber Swenson, MaKenna Edens, Gauge Swenson, Holden Slate, Aliyah Edens, Lane Swenson, Layton Slate and Brody Edens; sister-in-law Lois Holden (Steve) Sells and many wonderful nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Wilder Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
