Steven Everitt Obituary

Nampa - Steven Harold Everitt passed peacefully in the early morning hours of October 2, 2024, at the age of 85, in Nampa, Idaho.

Steve was born in Nampa, Idaho on August 27, 1939, to Harold de Vine Everitt and Lois Dellenbaugh Everitt. His younger brother, Randall Lee Everitt, was born 9 years later. Growing up in McMinnville, Oregon, Steve taught Randy how to catch a baseball and loved waving to his little brother sitting at the living room window as he left for school. As the years passed, Randy became and has always been Steve's hero. Steve grew up in a loving family, including grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He would visit his grandparents in Meridian Idaho every summer and had wonderful memories of those times. His best friend was his cousin Sandy who was 1-year younger. In his journal, Steve commented that Sandy was a "tomboy" and could do everything he could, i.e. playing sports! I loved her like a sister." After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1957, where he earned an All-Conference title in football, Steve attended Eastern Oregon College (now EOU) where he played football and basketball. During his freshman year he met Janet Darlene Sanderson, who he thought was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Steve and Jan were married on December 20, 1958, while they both attended EOU. Steve graduated from EOU in June 1962 and started his teaching/coaching career at Taft Elementary School in Boise, Idaho. He went on to teach at McKinnley Grade School, North Junior High, and Capital High School. In 1979, he moved his family to Springfield, Oregon where he taught and coached football and basketball at Springfield High School, Stayton High School and retired from Mazama High School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. During his career he worked with many wonderful friends and colleagues, including Chuck Burns, Don Zupan, and Paul Schaffeld. Steve and Paul remained friends their entire lives and spent many hours playing golf at Centennial Golf Course. In November of 1959, Steve and Jan's first son. Craig Steven Everitt was born, followed by Cathryn Sandra in 1962, Kyle James in 1964 and Kip Charles in 1979. Steve coached all three sons during their high school years and left a legacy of the love of sports with his children and grandchildren. Steve's beloved wife, Jan, passed away in 2018 and his family is comforted by the knowledge that they are together again. Steve loved his family so very much. He loved sharing memories, coaching, football, fishing, and golf! He is survived by his children Craig (Susie), Cathy (Brad), Kyle, and Kip (Ellen), his grandchildren, Kasey (Olivia), Nate (Cindee), Trevor, Dylan (Kristy), Calvin, Markus, Lia, and Annabella, and one great-granddaughter, Sophia, as well as his beloved brother, Randy (Donna), and the cousins that, in his words, were the best family anyone could ever have. Steve's family would like to thank those that gave their loving care to him at the end of his life at the Orchards Nursing Home and to the Nampa, Idaho 25th Ward, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who always looked after him. We love you, Dad!

"Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." Jesus Christ
Family and friends of Steven, please accept my sincere condolences in your loss of Steven. He is a fine man and made a difference in the lives of many others.
Janet (Sanderson) and I (Marjorie Godfrey) were fast playmates and school chums in La Grande, Oregon from first grade on. Janet was so in love with Steven and it is comforting to know they are now together.
May our Heavenly Father bless and keep you all.

Everett family, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Steve and I attended Caldwell High School together, we were friends then and later renewed our friendship on the golf course when I visited my parents in Nampa. I know he will be truly missed.
