Cami Hansen Obituary

Cami Lee Hansen
November 30, 1977 - December 18, 2017
Cami Lee Hansen, 40, passed away Dec. 18, 2017, in Provo, Utah. Cami was born Nov. 30, 1977, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Zane Andrew Hansen and Janae Eleanor Walker. She was the oldest of five children.
As a child, Cami was very imaginative and loved to create things, which talents she continued to develop throughout her life. In high school, she participated in varsity cross country, basketball, and choir. One of her greatest sources of satisfaction was her art, from which she received much recognition, including Snake River Artist of the Year. In 1996, she graduated from Snake River High School.
Cami attended Ricks College for two years, studying graphic design. Soon after, she worked at Triangle C Dude Ranch near Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a summer. However, her desire to serve others took her to Guatemala to teach children English. She loved her time in Guatemala and brought home many treasured experiences.
After returning from Guatemala, Cami moved to Provo, Utah, where she spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed working on her art and created a small business called Soul Elements, producing paintings, cards, decorative pots, and crafts. She loved to give gifts and made friends wherever she went. Her lesser known talents included her expressive writing and humorous monologues.
Cami was a strong advocate for mental health education with dreams of becoming a social worker. She appreciated very much everyone who supported her as she fought through the difficult challenges of life. She was especially close to her Grandma Bobbie.
Cami was an active member of the LDS Church and had a strong testimony of the Gospel, which gave her great comfort and support.
Cami is survived by her father, Zane, three brothers, Lance (Joni) Hansen of Montpelier, Idaho, Tyler (Carrie) Hansen of American Fork, Utah, and Tate (Amber) Hansen of Bountiful, Utah, and her sister, Kandace (Jonathon) Wheelwright of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by four nephews and seven nieces, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janae, as well as her grandparents, Welland and Bobbie Lou Hansen, and Leo and Beth Walker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot, Idaho. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at the funeral home and also for one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.

Hansen Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I was so sad to hear of Cami's passing. She was so kind to me when I moved to SR and was great to have as a basketball teammate and friend. I will always remember her smile and laugh, her wit, and how hard she worked at everything she did.

Many memories of sweet Cami living next door in Rockford during her Snake River school days! Such a responsible girl helping care for her younger brothers and sister, and a thoughtful girl with a deep love for others!
Sending prayers and sympathy for her family!

We love Cami and will miss her. Her vibrant nature and beautiful handmade works of art will be treasured by our family. I will miss our phone visits where we shared many laughs, funny memes and meaningful talks. She taught us many things and shared insight that lifted our awareness of people and those less fortunate. I have fond memories babysitting her as a little girl and the sweet times we shared at her Grandma and Grandpa Hansen's home as well as our family reunion at Bear Lake. Our lives are enriched by Cami and our dear niece/cousin will be greatly missed. Much love and blessings of peace to her entire family. Love, Michelle, Dwight and Family

Dear Hansen Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will really miss Cami. She was one of my best friends in high school and made getting through those four years a lot easier than they would have been without her. She was always smiling and I remember how she would always tease my brother, Joseph, about his red hair. He would get so embarrassed but she and I just thought it was hilarious. We kind of lost touch in recent years but never for too long. Facebook helped us stay in touch, somewhat. I feel strengthened by her obvious love for and testimony of the Savior.
I will miss her greatly.

Dear Zane, We are so sorry for your loss. We were good friends with your folks. You probably remember Joe and Melba Dygert better than you would us, as we moved to Utah years ago, but we still keep track of friends in Idaho.Your daughter is beautiful. She and her mother will have a joyful reunion. Howard and Cherrill Dygert
