Frances Atherton-Pacheco Obituary

Frances Diane Atherton-Pacheco
POCATELLO - Frances Diane Atherton-Pacheco fought for her life for 57 days before she finally succumbed to acute pancreatitis in the surgical intensive
care unit at the University of Utah Hospital. She was 63 years old.
Diane fulfilled her childhood dream when she joined the Navy and became a WAVE. Her 40-year career as a registered nurse with a master's degree in business administration and most recently, as a director at Portneuf Medical Center was
tragically cut short by this unexpected illness. She was honored to have been asked to design the Women's and Children's Services floor for the new Portneuf Medical Center now under construction overlooking Pocatello.
Diane always loved a challenge and never failed to rise to the occasion in any endeavor.
Diane is survived by her mother, Meriel Roberts; her son, Clay Atherton; granddaughters, Kayla and Felicia; her son, David Atherton, his wife, Corina; granddaughter, Olivia May, grandson Ethan. She is also survived by her brother, Lonnie D. Roberts Jr., wife, Pam, and their family; her niece, Dawn Michele and husband, David Stephens; nephew, Jay Burgener and Diane's loving and devoted husband, Anthony Francis Pacheco Jr.
Her family will have a private memorial service at her parent's home, where Diane will have a place to rest in peace next to her father at the Righteous Oaks Cemetery near Meridian, Mississippi. Her father, the late Lonnie D. Roberts Sr., was a World War II veteran who served on the USS Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Diane's name.

I will always remember her and her wondeful personality. Her smile was the kind that lights up the room. I hope that she is at peace and has reconnected with Grandpa, Sandy, and my mother. I am sure they will enjoy each others company and watch over us.

I loved my Aunt very much and it was an honor to live in her shadow. I can only hope to have achieved so much on my life as she did in hers. The world is a little bit duller without her wonderful smile & sparkling personality.

Tony, I am so sad hearing the news of Diane's passing. I promised her I would take her for a walk outside in the Spring to see the flowers and feel the sun. She is walking in heaven among the flowers. My thoughts and prayers are with you. What a blessing to get to know the both of you. I will treasure it always. Thanks for including us in your lives.
