Dixie Reale Obituary

Dixie Lee Thomas Reale
1942 ~ 2013
When she was a little girl we called her "Cookie".
On September 1, 2013 at 8:39 a.m. Dixie's heroic battle with cancer was over.
Early in June, Dixie was diagnosed with cancer. She fought very hard to beat the cancer. It was not to be in her favor.
She was the youngest daughter of Lonnie and Leatha Thomas of Wilder, Idaho.
She grew up in the Wilder area and graduated from Wilder High School from the class of 1960. After High school she attended Northridge College in California graduating with a BA in English in 1965. She finished her education with a Masters in English from UC Berkeley California in 1971.
While in California she met and married Shepard Reale. They were married for five years when they had their first child......It was twins. A little girl named Egypt, and a little boy named Louie. The family lived in Jerome Idaho. This is where the children were raised. Dixie and Shepard were married for 46 years.
Dixie authored several books (which can be found at "The Other Bunch Press"), wrote a food column for the Jerome newspaper for several years. She owned a rock shop (which she loved dearly) in King Hill, Idaho. She loved animals. She rescued many kitty cats that would not have made it without her tender loving care, including Icecube.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Leatha Thomas. Three brothers, Frank Thomas, Noel Shuee, and John Thomas; and a sister, Susan Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Shepard Reale of Jerome Idaho; son, Louie Reale of Jerome, Idaho; her daughter, Egypt (Rob) Campbell of Perth Australia, as well as her two grandchildren, Shayna and Kristopher Reale of Pocatello, Idaho. Her puppy dogs Storm and Bear, her kitty cat Icecube all of Jerome, Idaho. Also surviving are her sisters, Peggy Hinshaw of Keauu, Hawaii; Betty Barker of King City, Oregon; Donna Shannon of Nampa, Idaho and Jo Ann and (Nick ) Clark of Ashfork, Arizona, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
We will all miss all that you are forever. We love you Dixie.

A memorial in her honor will be held in the summer of 2014 in Caldwell Idaho.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trent Stimpson and staff at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls.

Dear Master Reale:
We would like to extend our deep condolences to you and your family at this sad time. We never had the chance to meet Dixie though we heard about her energy and varied interests from you, Egypt and Louis during your summers in CT, and also from Shihan Arel. We send our best wishes to you and hope that you are comforted by warm memories and the support of your family and your Sanjuriu students.

Sincerely,
Dan and Scott Cohen

Dear Sensei Reale:

Our condolences go to you and yours in this time of sorrow and pain. We never got to share her spirit but knowing you, she must have been on heck of a lady. May her memories and the sound of her laughter mend the silence that will soon prevail as you allow her her path to the place where she can look over, smile and protect all of you.
