Francene Katula Obituary

Francene Eloise Katula

July 5, 1946 - April 28, 2025

Boise, Idaho - Francene Eloise Katula (Collins), 78, of Boise, ID, died peacefully in her sleep at home of natural causes on Monday April 28th, 2025. She is survived by one brother, William D. Collins, three children, William S. Audette, Michelle Y. Audette, and Matthew S. Katula, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Francene married twice, first to Stanley F. Audette for 11 years and later to Brice A. Katula for 44 years.

Born in Idaho Falls, ID of Dorothy, and William Collins on July 5th, 1946. Her family moved to Boise, ID where she graduated from Borah High School, attended college, and met her first husband Stan Audette. They moved to Moscow and had their first child William, then to Lewiston, ID, and had their second child, Michelle. She then found herself back in Idaho Falls, ID.

The family moved back to Boise ID where Stan and Francene divorced.

A couple of years later Francene married Brice, the family moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where she had her third child, Matthew.

Francene was an exceptionally good organizer, homemaker, and diligent worker which made her a beloved member of the social and philanthropic Shriner Organization, Daughters of the Nile, which supports Shriners Children's Hospital Network. She was a highly active member throughout her life and specifically enjoyed being in the Dancer's group.

As a teenager, she joined organizations such as Jobes Daughters and provided support to many Queens in official capacities. Through these experiences, she developed new skills and took on challenging responsibilities with the support of her Nile family and friends. Her growth and development were evident as she embraced these opportunities and succeeded. She was stronger in and of herself and experienced a new sense of self-worth. She became Queen of Iris Temple #40 from 1992 to 1993, where her flower was the Purple Iris, her favorite flower. She proudly continued to support and serve in various positions for Queens long past her reign.

Francene fostered lifelong friendships and was deeply loved by many! She was a good woman, mother, wife, stalwart supporter, friend, and she had a powerful sense of service towards others. Francene held a strong faith in God. Her life was complete, and she will be dearly missed and remembered. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, Mom, for the invaluable time spent with us. Your presence positively impacted this world. Thank you.

Francene's Funeral services will be held at Bowman Funeral Home on June 27th at 2 p.m. Immediately following the ceremony will be a celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. at Boise Valley Scottish Rite. All are welcome! Donations and Stepping Stones can be made in her honor to Iris Temple #40, Daughters of the Nile, PO Box 140345, Boise ID 83714.

And I forgot to mention her participation in synchronized swimming and how she tried to teach me to swim in a pool so crowded I was leery of being kicked in the face. In fact I was kicked in the face, and yet she would swim in that mosh pit of a pool and make it look easy.

I was a childhood friend and neighbor. Francene loved beauty and surrounding her loved ones with a beautiful environment. She was brave enough to sing a solo well in 8th grade before South jr hi student
body, which few were courageous enough to do. She sought grace and elegance in a world that needed it.
She was delighted to spend time in philanthropy. She cared deeply for her fellow participants in Jobs Daughters and Daughters of the Nile. She adored her children, and she leaves a hole behind- a missing grace note.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Francene. She was a devout friend to many and always there when needed to be
of help. She always looked very pretty and dressed to perfection.
She was a dedicated person and will be missed. God Bless you Francene, rest in peace!

Francene was my favorite cousin. We had planned on visiting again this summer. She was loved and will be missed, not just by me but also by so many of her sisters in the Nile. She was such a sweet, kind and caring person. She will never be forgotten.
