Helen Martin Obituary

Helen Krumperman Martin May 15, 1912 - Sept. 19, 2007 Helen Krumperman Martin passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, comforted by being in her own home with her family. She was born in Ogden, Utah on May 15, 1912 to Albert Henry Krumperman and Hannah Ellen Poulter. On April 17, 1933, while completing her studies at Weber College, she married A. James Martin in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They adored one another from the earliest days of their youthful courtship and spent the rest of their lives devoted to one another's happiness. They started their family in California, first in San Francisco, then Oakland and Glendale with a five year stay in Short Hills, N. J. From 1964 to 1967 they lived in Geneva, Switzerland where Jim presided over the French East Mission for the LDS church. At the completion of this mission they retired to Boise, Idaho to live near their daughter but returned to Europe in 1979 for another two year assignment from the church as a full time regional representative stationed in Brussels, Belgium. Whether the call to duty was professional or religious, Helen was always at Jim's side as his constant companion. He was her life. Of all the service Helen gave to the church over her dedicated lifetime, her favorite calling was as an ordinance worker in the Boise Temple for 18 years, many of those years served together with Jim. They made their home feel very much like the temple to anyone who visited with them there. She was truly dedicated to serving the Lord. Entertaining was one of Helen's favorite things to do. She was a marvelous hostess to her family and friends, including the social groups to which she belonged-the Amigas Club, the Friday Ladies, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. With her well-ordered home, her knack for good cooking, and her gracious disposition, she always made people feel welcome. When home alone, she spent countless hours crocheting afghans for her children, grandchildren, and many of her great-grandchildren. They treasure these tokens of her love for them. Helen is preceded in death by her husband A. James Martin, her son A. Keith Martin, her parents and siblings. She leaves her daughter, Janice Johnson (Ted) of Boise, her son Blaine L. Martin (Jane) of Lacey, Wash., her daughter-in-law Gerry Martin of Bountiful, Utah, (formerly of Eugene, Oregon), her sister Mary McGregor of Sun Valley, Calif., 21 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, with a viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Bristol Heights LDS Chapel located on the south west corner of Chinden Road and Royal Park Avenue west of Eagle Road. Interment will follow in the Cloverdale Memorial Garden Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 North Midland Blvd. Nampa. It is Helen's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the missionary fund of the LDS church at 47 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84150.
