Jessica Hooker Obituary
December 31, 1984 - October 19, 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Jessica Hall Hooker who was born December 31, 1984 in Boise, Idaho to Judy Ray Olson and Roy Frederick Hooker announce her unexpected death on October 19, 2014 at the age of 29.
Jessica spent most of her life in Boise, where she attended schools graduating from Borah High School in 2003. She graduated from Boise State University in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management. She was a proud alumni and devout Boise State Football fan.
One of her talents we all enjoyed was her love of and ability to plan events for her loved ones, whether it be a wedding, camping trip, holiday party or get-to-gather.
In August of 2012 she married her best friend and love of her life. Jessica will lovingly be remembered by her husband Gerren Steel, whose heart is broken and life shattered, as he lost his best friend the love of his life and the woman of his dream. They joined together to share a home with their beloved dog, Brody enjoying life.
Jessica was a beautiful loving woman who was adored by her friends and family. She was known as a selfless individual who always put other people's needs above her own. She had a gorgeous-infectious smile and bubbly personality that drew you to her presence. She displayed kindness and generosity to everyone in her life, we are all better people for having been blessed by her presence. This example of her life is evidenced by her choice to be an organ donor so others can benefit from her kindness.
Her parents preceded her in death, she is survived by her husband, Gerren and their dog Brody, her half sisters Michele Hooker, and Jamie Hooker , step sister Nicole LaMontagne Henson. Godfather Tom Raffetto and other special people that touched her life Carol Crosswhite (Chris Blanchard) and Preston Crosswhite (Carissa), Aunt Janet Olson Alvis, Uncle Roger Olson (Amy), multiple nieces and nephews, numerous in-laws, family, friends and loved ones all who greatly loved her and will miss her.
A memorial service honoring Jessica will be held Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel & Crematory 5400 W Fairview Avenue, Boise, Idaho at 12:00 p.m.

I feel so heartbroken and truly devastated that we have lost you at such a young age, words can't describe the pain in my heart during this horrible time. You grew into such a beautiful, caring, thoughtful and loving woman and I feel so proud and blessed to have had you as a sister. Your amazing gorgeous smile will be embedded in my heart and soul forever. The thoughts and reactions from others is a true sign as to how many people's hearts you have touched by just being you. The only peace and comfort I can find is the fact that you have saved multiple live's by your selfless act of being a donor. Through your love and generosity many families life's will be changed for a lifetime and that warms my heart!! My love for you will live on forever! I am honored to have known and worked with Jessica. She was the welcoming, beautiful face of the Social Work Department when I was a Graduate Student and Graduate Assistant there. We worked on several projects together and I was humbled by her wisdom and her conscientiousness for someone so young. She was planning her wedding during our time together and was so excited to share her life with Garren. Thank you Jessica, you made an indelible impression on me with your light, kindness and wisdom. You will continue to shine in my memory and in my heart.

I had the pleasure of knowing this wonderful person and i cannot express my deepest sympathies for family, friends, husband and brodie. Jessica, we never spent much time together just the two of us but I have many great memories of you. I was always amazed at how your beautiful smile and bright eyes could light up a room. I worked with Jessica's mother, Judy Olson Hooker, at Piper Jaffray many years ago. My husband and I were friends with Judy and Rick and knew Jessica as a precocious little girl - the light of Judy's and Rick's life. Jessica,
My heart breaks in sadness at the loss of your life. This past week has truly been one of the most difficult times in many of our lives and we are all still in such shock and despair.
I have loved you for over 15 years and was fortunate to share half of our lives laughing, learning, and experiencing the joys of our journey together in this world.
From the moment we met-just a cpl awkward 13 year olds at a slumber party-you stole a piece of my heart with your story of loss and example of strength.
It's your example that taught me and so many others how to love unconditionally, how to forgive and how to overcome.
I'm working on applying those skills to heal from losing you-
It's proven to be easier said than done this time around.
I will keep praying and continue recalling all the many wonderful days we've shared. I promise to remember your laugh, smile and light that you gave as well as the selfless nature you had about you.
May you rest in peace, Girl. I take comfort knowing you are finally reunited with your loving parents.
