May 12, 1940 - July 22, 2023
Meridain, Idaho - John Emmett Ritter, Jr. 83, of Meridian passed away Saturday of natural causes. Rosary will be held 10 am Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. Meridian, ID with Funeral Mass to follow at 11 am. Services under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.

John was a kind man who gave good advice and encouragement to young teachers. He had a great influence on my development as a teacher, and I often sought him out for his insight and opinions when I needed help. And he was an amazing gardener! He had the most perfect lawn I had ever seen in my life. Rest in peace John.

I was so sad to hear of Dr. Ritter´s passing. John hired me for my first job at Garces in 1990 and was my Vice Principal for many years offering encouragement and support. I remember him always wearing his three piece suit and being very professional. He would even pick up trash on the campus if he saw it laying around. He was also so fun at faculty gatherings where we would see a different side of him. He had such a great faith and Catholic devotion and attended daily mass. I will forever be grateful for him taking a chance on me and allowing me to join the Garces Faculty for 26 years!! I know him and Kathy are at peace with the angels embraced fully by God and his amazing love!

My deepest condolences to the girls and grandchildren of this great wonderful man. I met John when he and Kathy arrived in Bakersfield where John was a brief substitute at Sierra Junior HIgh where I was teaching. What a wonderful impact he had in all of education. Blessings, Nancy Ann Dunn
