Donnelly, Idaho - Kip Charles Peterson was born September 4, 1959, in WaKeeney, Kansas, to Ollie Connelly and Kermit Peterson. He spent most of his younger years in Nampa, Idaho, and graduated from Nampa High School. As a young man, he loved skiing and ultimate frisbee. Kip was a hard worker and began his career with Union Pacific Railroad on July 5, 1979. He was employed with the railroad for 42 years and made many of his closest friends. Kip was an amazing gardener and landscaper, and his yard was always the most beautiful in the neighborhood. At one time, his ponds were part of the Boise Pond Tour. Later in life, he took great pride in renovating the cabin his father had built in Donnelly when Kip was a child. He spent many happy times at the cabin jet skiing and snowmobiling with his children. Throughout his life, Kip always had a four-legged companion, starting with his childhood dog, PeeWee. Kip battled cancer for 14 years, many times overcoming when given the worst diagnosis. He finally lost his battle on July 28, 2021, at the age of 61. Kip's greatest joy in life was born nine months before his death: a beautiful, red-haired, blue-eyed granddaughter named Prairie Rose. Kip is survived by his wife, Amanda Peterson, and their amazing children, Abigail, Kobe and Maggie, as well as his bonus son, Khord Lafferty, Abigail's husband, Hunter Gobbell, and their daughter, Prairie Rose Gobbell, his father, Kermit Peterson, twin sister, Cristi Heins, and her family, his youngest brother, Konnel Peterson, and his family, sister-in-law, Maureen Peterson, and mother-in-law, Susan Roberts McLagan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ollie Reser, brother, Darrin Peterson, and father-in-law, George Roberts. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when COVID-19 is no longer a concern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your nearest animal shelter or bulldog rescue.
