Lurane Judson Obituary
Lurane Elizabeth Judson, died Tuesday Aug. 29, 2006 at Boise Samaritan Village in Boise. ÒRainieÓ was born May 12, 1918 on Mothers Day in Conrad, Iowa. One of eight children raised on a farm in Vienna Township, she graduated from Conrad High School in 1936. Lurane was active in choir, orchestra, marching band and theater and as a young woman, was part of a traveling band with her sisters. She also loved to dance. In the 40s, she moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where she worked as a machinist and in 1941 married Cecil Findling. They had a son, Gary Lee. In 1949 they moved to Nyssa, Ore. Lurane later divorced and in 1955 married Jack G. Judson of Ontario, Ore . They had a daughter, Julie Ann. Lurane was an active member of the Ontario Elks Emblem Club and enjoyed hosting many social events in her home. She delighted in holiday decorating and won many grand prizes for her elaborate outdoor Christmas displays. Lurane had many cherished friendships and was a kind and thoughtful neighbor. She never turned down an opportunity to lend a helping hand. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, her siblings and their families. She is lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren as the food pusher as she was constantly trying to feed everyone! She has also been known to many as the best chicken and potato salad maker in the world! Mostly, we will remember her for her generous heart and audacious sense of humor. Lurane is survived by her sisters Lois Long of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Wilma Ralston of Burnsville, Minn. and Marilyn Watson of Half Moon Bay, Calif., a sister-in-law Hazel Koehler of Conrad, Iowa, her children Gary Lee Findling of Caldwell, Idaho and Julie Ann Judson of Boise, Idaho, two stepdaughters Sandra Lou Russell of Pullman, Wash. and Jacqueline Jean Judson of Hillsboro Ore., six grandchildren, Lisa Daniels of Hayden, Idaho, Darin Findling of Lynn Haven, Fla., J.C. Findling of Crescent, Ore., Dustin Findling of Ontario, Ore., Carina Christiani of Boise, Idaho and Cassie Plum of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by 8.5 great-grandchildren and many adoring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John Arthur and Minnie Pearl Mischler Koehler, her siblings Doris Maxine Koehler, Keith Koehler, Karl Koehler, Helen Knights, and grandson Brian Lee Findling. Lurane´s family would like to thank the wonderful and loving staff of Boise Samaritan Village that took such good care of her the last five years of her life. Lurane will be honored with a private family celebration where her favorite music is played, stories are told and much chicken and potato salad is eaten.
