Michael Corrigan Obituary

Michael Corrigan
8/2/1950 ~ 6/16/2017
After a long battle with cancer, Michael Shawn Corrigan passed away on June 16, 2017—carried home by his late wife Danise Grantham and his son Emmett Michael Corrigan. Survived by his brothers and sister: Patrick and Patti Corrigan, Kelly and Sue Corrigan, and Kathleen and Don Thoren; and his grandkids: Bostyn, Bailey, Jordyn, Teage, Kaleeya, and Tytus; his daughter in law Ashlee and Shawn Birk; and his life partner Roxann Taylor.
Mike was born to Romara Jane Black and Richard Glen Corrigan on August 2, 1950 in Long Beach, California.
Michael was a man loved by all who knew him. A Utah State Aggie—football playing, scientific genius—old hippie. Michael lived in a world full of best friends—he never did meet a stranger. Mike was the kind of guy who would literally give you the shirt off his back. He was loving, unique, and genuine.
In the words of Mike, "You just got to make the most of every day . . . live every moment. But what do I know?—I am just an old hippie!"
And that is what he did. He lived life to the fullest—like it was all on purpose.
Mike—brother—you will be forever loved and until we meet again . . . missed by us all. Thanks for being you. Love you the most. Big Papi.
I love you man, adios.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 11 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N Cloverdale Rd. Boise, Idaho.

Mike & I met as teammates playing in '68 HS All-Star game, next 2 yrs we played on winning JC team, and joined up for 2 yrs at DIV winning USU Fb. He was a great team players TE & Long snappers. As i finished my RS Senior year he successful coached our undefeated Freshman team. unbeaten team. He was an avid tennis player who beat me several times! But we followed up this as USU Alumni golfing partners where we were more evenly matched. Mike loved the loved the of doors. Our many visits, trips to Logan reunions were always memorable. As his teammate, there was always a winning season. Knew the gentleman 50 years, and forever his friend. Missing him these past 49 years. He was a "jewel."

I met Mike when we were both hired by Arch Chemicals in June of 2007. A couple was traveling together but were seated apart on the airplane. I offered up my seat so the couple could sit together, which put me next to Mike.
We got to talking, and found out we were both headed to a meeting at
Arch Chemicals, our new employer. Mike was adventurous and after the flight, he and I, and Tom Lefave went to dinner, each ordering different entrees so we could sample and share things we hadn't tried before!
Mike told me about his prostate cancer on the flight, (my husband had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer)and wept when he told me about the loss of his wife, Denise due to breast cancer. He talked by phone,to my husband about his prostate cancer situation later, and gave my husband a lot of insight.
We kept in touch through corporate meetings, learned of the god awful loss of his boy, and his cancer of the esophagus. Mike and I would always split meals after that...he couldn't eat a whole meal, and neither could I! Worked for both if us! Mike was a really good, hard working guy, and it's a shame that he's no longer with us. I'm so thankful to have known him....Judy

Rest in peace, Mike. It was an honor and privilege to ski with you and call you friend. You'll never be forgotten. I pray your sitting on a beach or skiing some sweet powder. But save some for me.
