Norma Hammack Obituary

Norma Lee Calhoun Hammack
1926 ~ 2016
Norma Lee Calhoun Hammack, 89, passed away January 20, 2016 at her daughter's home, of natural causes. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1 pm at Cloverdale Funeral Home with Darrell Taylor of Ten Mile Christian Church presiding.
Norma was born in Cape Fair, MO on October 18, 1926 to James and Virginia Calhoun. At the age of 9, the family moved to the Boise, Meridian, Idaho area. She attended Ustick School and Meridian High School. At the age of 20, she married Roy Hammack and they enjoyed 42 years together. Mom and Dad enjoyed their children: Tom Hammack (Mary), and Kathy Bonham (Larry). Mom and Dad were thrilled when the grandchildren came along.
Mom was the ultimate home maker. Sewed like a tailor, cooked like a chef, you would never find a speck of dust in her home; even the yard was immaculate. She was constantly making things better for her family. Mom will be remembered for her monster cinnamon rolls, her cream pies, her Better than Sex Cakes, Lasagna, and stroganoff.
Mom enjoyed bowling on leagues at Westgate Lanes and Westy's. She was on ladies' leagues, and she and Dad were also on several mixed leagues. But the favorite of Mom and the family were the times at their cabin on West Mountain, near Cascade, ID. She enjoyed catching the perch for the big fish fry, then a night of cards and board games.
Mom is survived by: daughter, Kathy (Larry) Bonham; granddaughter, Sara (Bob) Thomas, and their children, Zachary, Michael, Holden and Ainsley Thomas. Also granddaughter-in-law, Karin Bonham (Jason) and their children, Tyler Guthrie, Colton Bonham and Aubry Bonham. Daughter-in-law, Mary Hammack and her daughters, Kara Beaudreau and Linda (Dave) Taysom. Tom's sons and grandchildren: James (Melissa) Hammack, their children, Nicholas and Rachel Hammack; son, Brandon Hammack and his son, Tristen Hammack. Mom is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Cora Beatty.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Hammack; twins, Linda and Lonnie Hammack; son, Tom Hammack; grandson, Jason Bonham. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Floyd, Raymond, Virgil, John and Don Calhoun; sisters, Fern Bolen, Blanche Gentry, Belva Seitz, Nola Meek, and one other young sister.
Mom was also "substitute Mom" for many of her nieces and nephews. Many others have said she was their favorite "aunt" even though they weren't related. She was loved by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank St. Luke's Home Health, and Harrison's Hope Hospice for their help with Mom's care the past few months. In lieu of flowers, Mom would have appreciated a donation to Idaho Special Olympics – one of her favorite charities.

I can only imagine the excitement in heaven when Kitty and Al saw her arrive! I loved your Mom and Dad and will forever carry the memories of my childhood with them.
