July 30, 1944 - November 11, 2021
Garden City, Idaho - Pamela J. Beaumont died on November 11, 2021 at 11:21 p.m. at the age of 77 years. Pam was born on July 30, 1944 in Valentine, Nebraska to Henry William Bostrom and Phyllis Faye Zersen Bostrom. They later divorced and Pam, her older brother, Bill, and her mother moved to Colorado.
Pam graduated from Ft. Morgan High School and received her B.S.(Bus) and her MBA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Recruited by Ore-Ida Foods, Inc. (then a division of the H.J. Heinz Co.), Pam moved to Boise, ID in 1968. In 1971, Pam married Fred. H. (Fritz) Beaumont and they were later divorced. She spent eight years at Ore-Ida in product marketing with her final position as General Manager of Marketing Services. She joined Albertsons, Inc. in 1975 as Vice President of Marketing, becoming the first female Vice President in Albertsons history. During her 12-year tenure at Albertsons, she was responsible for, among other programs, the development of the 'It's Joe Albertson's Supermarket' advertising campaign. She left Albertsons in 1998 and spent the next 9 years as a partner of a Boise-based management and marketing consulting firm, retiring in 2007.
Pam moved to Garden City in 1990 and became active in the community. Then Garden City Mayor Ted Ellis appointed Pam to serve as a community volunteer on the Garden City Urban Renewal Agency, where she has been Chair since 1997. At the Agency, among other projects, she led the effort to complete 1.3 miles of new multi-purpose greenbelt path, the development of the Mystic Cove and River Front city parks, the addition of the city's only water reservoir system, and the renovation of Heron Park. The Riverfront Park was recently rededicated as the Pamela J. Beaumont Riverfront Park in her honor.
In October 2005, Mayor Ellis appointed Pam to complete the remaining two-years of Councilmember Mike Eddy's term after his resignation. She was elected to four-year Council terms in 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019. She has served as Council President in 2007, 2011 through 2021. Pam was deeply involved in creating the Garden City Comprehensive Plan. She was a founding member and officer of the Board of Directors of the Redevelopment Association of Idaho and was Council liaison to the Library Board of Trustees for 7 years.
A resident of Garden City since 1990, she is a past member of the Community Advisory Board for the Assistance League of Boise; a 2010 recipient of the Soroptimist International of Garden City "Ruby Award", and was designated as one of former Governor Dirk Kempthorne's "Idaho's Brightest Stars". Pam served as a board member and Past President of the Garden City Visitors Bureau.
Pam was a founding member of the Executive Women's Golf Association in 2001. and helped grow the organization to 270 members.
Pam is survived by her brother Bill (Jane) Lovejoy of Parker, CO, their children Jodi and David and grandchildren; stepbrother Harold Mott; stepsister Gina (Albert) Aldazabal and their daughters Christina and Ana. She is also survived by her longtime friend Bette Wood, Bette's children Jim, Lisa, Jeff and Kristy and grandchildren; Joe, Sophie, Winston and Jacob.

I have just learned of Pam's death and I want to offer my condolences to Bette Wood and the rest of Pam's family. Pam was a great friend in high school in Fort Morgan, Colorado and in college at the University of Colorado.. Since learning of Pam's death I have been recalling our special friendship. Pam was a born leader and she was terrifically fun and witty, too. I am so sorry to learn of her passing and wish I'd made more of an effort to keep in touch with her. I am enjoying lovely memories of our shenanigans and our purposeful young lives.

As a neighbor of Pam´s, I´m going to miss our "sidewalk chats" as she walked her dog. She was a proud advocate for Garden City.

At the Division level, I was fortunate to have worked under Pam's 12 year leadership at Albertsons, She was an inspiration and when she departed, I knew she was capable of many more achievements. Little did I know the impact she would make on her beloved Garden City. Rest In Peace Pam, my beloved friend & mentor.

Pam had passion for her community and that was seen in everything she did. I enjoyed working with her to promote Garden City as a tourism destination. She will be missed.

Through tears and a broken heart for a dear friend, I will always treasure the many memories of golfing, afternoons spent in her home with Bette and what a blast we had as founding members of the EWGA Chapter. Sending loving prayers and I know you are in heaven golfing and trying to organize everything you can get involved in Pam. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Pam helped open doors for many corporate women during the 1980s, including me. We were good friends, and I´ll miss our "business meetings" to share wine and solve the problems of the world.

Pam was so much fun. Her great sense of humor and her creativity have given me wonderful memories, including the parties she gave back in the day with then husband Fritz, especially the hilarious croquet tournaments and the Battle of the Sexes evening with Billy Jean King trouncing Bobby Riggs. Pam was always good company; well loved and deservedly so on many fronts.

Pam was a powerhouse of intelligence, the ability to get things done for our community, and a delightful neighbor and friend. I missed her and the dogs she used to walk. Heaven will have welcomed a person admired and loved by people and animals.
