Shirley's Family,
What a privilege it was to get to know Shirley and you a bit in the ALS Support Group. I was always so impressed with Shirley's smile, even as she faced tremendous challenges. It was also a wonder to see your love for her as a family. You all will be missed in our group. Thanks for the time you spent with us.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

It speaks volumes about the kindness and graciousness of Shirley that I was allowed to call her my friend. Her life of love and understanding is one to be emulated. I'll miss this gentle woman.
