Sondra Prather Obituary

Sondra Prather
November 25, 1937 - August 23, 2023
Eagle, Idaho - Sondra Gail Prather, 85, peacefully passed at home on August 23, 2023, in Boise, Idaho. She was born in Los Angeles, California on November 25, 1937, to Jack and Coila Singler. Sandy graduated from Downey High School in 1955. She will forever be remembered for her gentle nature and acts of kindness. Sandy's life was full of volunteer work through the Campfire Girls, Long Beach Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Assistance League of Boise, and the Idaho Humane Society. As a young girl living in Downey, California she loved an adventure. She often rode her horse, Josie, from Downey, along the San Gabriel River, to Huntington Beach. Sandy's gentle nature with children was a perfect fit for her work with the Assistance League of Boise's Project School Bell where she outfitted children with clothing for the school year. She was a natural volunteer at the Idaho Humane Society where she made all animals feel safe. She enjoyed parading dogs, available for adoption, at the annual See Spot Walk event.
At the age of 17, Sandy married Ronald Prather on July 1, 1955. With their three children, they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. Sandy and Ron enjoyed camping, boating, spending time in McCall, Idaho, and traveling the world with longtime friends and family.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Ronald Prather; her children, Romiah Snow, Carrie (John) Hanousek, and Craig (Dacia) Prather; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The memories we have of Sandy as a wife, mom, and grandma will be cherished forever. We now let her venture into a new world where loved ones, pets, and new adventures welcome her with love and open arms.
Our family would like to sincerely thank St. Luke's Hospice for their excellent care of Sandy and our family.
A memorial service will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery on September 25th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Idaho Humane Society in Sandy's name.

Sandy and Ron have been very, very close to our family for fifty five years. Sandy and I, (Mb) met shortly after we all moved into a new subdivision in Cypress, Ca. and became instant best friends. Our children played together daily and we went out nearly every weekend with Sandy and Ron.
We have wonderful memories of get togethers and trips by plane, car, ship and many RV trips over all these years. We visited western Canada, Costa Rica, and at about one third of our United States. together. Their move to Idaho did not change the closeness we have had but probable increased the number of trips.
My heart is so sad as I write this. But the memories, laughs, jokes, and hilarious fun will always be there to take away the pain of Sandy being gone.
We love you Ron and all of your wonderful family
and we will stay close.
