Belton, SC

James Wesley "Jim" Verner, 72, of Belton, SC passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born July 18, 1945 in Washington, PA, he was a son of the late, Jesse James Verner and the late Martha Wright Verner. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service; then retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Macon, GA after 19 1/2 years. He was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton.

He is survived by his wife, Fredda Cordell Verner; children, Paul (Rochelle) Bridges of Florida, Timmy (Teresa) Bridges of Anderson, Kim Bridges of Warner Robins, GA, Jamie Verner, Kevin Verner and Kristen Verner all of California, and Dawn Verner of Athens, GA; brothers, Tom (Gretchen) Verner of Florida and Barry (Denise) Verner of Washington, PA; sister, Evelyn (Butch) Garrett of Washington, PA and three grandchildren, Chandler, Bailey and Kendall Bridges.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, April 12, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter with Rev. Richard Busha and Rev. Jackie Gary officiating. Burial will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621 or American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way A, Greenville, SC 29615.

Please accept my condolences. My heartfelt sympathy
go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I was blessed to meet a special brother and enjoy spending time at the Coca Cola 600 race supporting our favorite driver Dale Jr. Will miss you but so happy that your pain is over and you are in your heavenly home! Lucky Man to be with our Lord and Savior - Jesus!
