David Sherman Obituary

David Michael Sherman

David Michael Sherman, 44, of Saunderstown, passed away June 5th, 2024. He was the loving son of Mary and Michael Sherman. He is survived by brothers, John and Michael, and had one predeceased brother, James Patrick, who is waiting to greet him in Heaven. David was a people person who gave bear hugs and had a friendly word for anyone and everyone!

David grew up working in the family businesses, Ryans Market, as a bagboy, graduating to the Wickford Package Store in sales. His knowledge of Wines, Beers and Liquor, made him a great asset to the store.

David's first love and passion was video production. His start came early in life with his own video recorder which led to his own company, Buckytown Productions. David honed his technical and creative skills while attending New England Tech. Leading to a business partnership that involved marketing for college sports. He and his partner filmed and edited college basketball programs for their recruiting websites. They provided video production services for multiple colleges and universities, including URI, Providence College,

University of Richmond, and Virginia Tech, to mention a few. They had been awarded the Atlantic Ten Tournament contract two years in a row which was viewed on a national level.

As the oldest of four boys, David took on the role of enforcer. His loving personality and demeanor were an example to his younger brothers. One of his quirky traits that endeared him to everyone was that he was an avid food critic. David loved to eat. He could put down a dozen oysters, but if the last one might not be quite up to snuff, he might just let the server know in case they would want to remove the cost from his bill.

David had great love for his four grandparents, David and Alice Ryan, and John and Gloria Sherman. He always made time to visit them and in their later years.

Besides his parents and brothers, David is survived by aunts, Hope Ryan, Kathy (Dan) Knerr, Sandra (Ken) Crowell, and Patricia Sherman as well as multiple cousins.

He will be sorely missed by both his family and friends.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on June 14, 2024, at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Rd., North Kingstown, RI. Calling Hours are omitted, and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 will be appreciated.

Dave was my golf buddy. We played often and always had fun. One of the best days we had was with Dave's dad Mike at Exeter. It was a spectacular day and we had a great time. That will be the one I will keep in the memory bank. RIP my Friend.

David was like a big brother when we worked together at Ryan's Market. I am so sad to hear he has left this world and yet comforted and happy that he will be reunited with sweet and dear James. I love you so much Sherman and Ryan Family and grieving with you from a distance. Love you so so much.

My heart goes out to the Shermans and Ryans. During covid lockdown, Dave reached out to me and volunteered to create an intro video for the weekly music livestream that I was doing. He came up with an awesome and hilarious cartoon that simultaneously spoofed my band and South Park. The kind gesture and resulting video were emblematic of his generous and fun nature. Peace and love to the Shermans and Ryans and to David and James, now reunited.

David, you made quite an impression on Grace. She thinks you are Editing God. She said "Even though he´s in heaven I´m still his Follower on Instagram". Thank you for the positive impact you had on her. Glad she got to meet you. Me too. xox
