David Michael "Dave" Melton

KANNAPOLIS - David 'Dave' Michael Melton, 53, of 431 E. Universal St., died Monday, July 10, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Brant Piper officiating. Entombment will be private on Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mr. Melton was born March 13, 1953, in Cabarrus County, the son of Francis Clyde Melton and Jimmie Mae Henderson Melton. He was a youth correction officer affiliated with the State of North Carolina Division of Youth Services at the Stonewall Jackson School, Concord, for many years. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis. Mr. Melton was a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an associate's degree in business administration. He was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks for many years. Survivors include his parents, Frank and Jimmie Henderson Melton of Kannapolis; maternal grandmother, Ona Henderson of Kannapolis; brother, Aaron Dale Melton of Kannapolis; sister, Micah Frances Melton of Kannapolis; and special nieces and nephews, Hannah Gray, Allie Melton, Sam Gray and Levi Gray.
